Matt Hunter Says: December 2011

Sunday, December 18, 2011. Bill and Buster's 12 Days of Christmas. As a bonus, here's the initial "Early Christmas" bit that I mentioned, (I loosely title it "A Bill and Buster Thanksgiving")as well as a few other holiday-themed entries from the Myspace days circa 2006. Links to this post. Monday, December 5, 2011. A Rant About CGI Cartoon Eyes. Compare the above to stuff like this:. Notice the round, staring, ping-pong ball eyes. They never change shape, leaving the eyelids and eyebrows to do all th...

Matt Hunter Says: Keeping it Simple With Batman
http://matthuntersays.blogspot.com/2012/01/keeping-it-simple-with-batman.html
Saturday, January 21, 2012. Keeping it Simple With Batman. This page from a “Batman: Gotham Adventures” book from 1998 by artist Ty Templeton draws its inspiration from the early stuff. Actually, it’s based on the 90’s Batman Animated Series that was running at the time, but because that series was based on the classic material, it was, in my opinion, the best interpretation of Batman ever done. Simple, linear designs once again…but it looks awesome. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Bill and Buster 2.

Matt Hunter Says: For Susan
http://matthuntersays.blogspot.com/2013/01/for-susan.html
Thursday, January 31, 2013. Sometimes, life has funny twists to it. I received the news via Facebook today that an old friend passed away. It made me sad, not because I had known her for over ten years, but because I had only recently begun to TRULY know her. She told me about her life, her family, and her interests…things we had never discussed back in the day. I’ll miss you, Susan. Friday, February 08, 2013 8:55:00 AM. I have learn a few good stuff here. Certainly worth bookmarking for. Revisiting....

Monday, January 31, 2011. Judging a Song By Its Cover: Part 1. In case you've never noticed, musicians and bands borrow each others' songs all the time. Usually, these "covers" are done to pay tribute to the original artist, or to adapt a well-known song in a new and different style. I thought it would be fun to compare some of my favorites with the originals, and see if they TOP the original or fall short. First up, Cake's cover of Gloria Gaynor's "I Will Survive". Vedder's is a good version. But no...

Saturday, June 19, 2010. What's In A Name? As most of you are aware, my current job entails cataloguing vital records. The deaths, which I previously wrote about, are far more interesting than the births, which are typically unremarkable. But every once in a while, my co-workers and I run across a birth certificate with a name we can’t believe. You know, a name that inspires exclamations of “Why would someone name their kid THAT? As if naming a child “Squall” isn’t cruel enough, some pa...Some of the nam...

Matt Hunter Says: Setting Sale
http://matthuntersays.blogspot.com/2012/01/setting-sale.html
Friday, January 27, 2012. I hate solicitors. I really do. I'm not a big fan of the sales field in general, because there are a lot of slick, scheming scam artists out there who will try to convince people to buy a moldy turd in exchange for your last dollar. The worst are the telemarketers. It's not something I want to do for the rest of my life, but I do have to tip a hat to the various business, communications and radio classes I took in college for making me adaptable to a work experience I'm so new to.

Tuesday, February 14, 2012. A Silly Adventure in College Radio. My ’06 revival of “Mighty Matt” was a hit with friends on campus, but not so well-received by the then-current radio professor, and my inability to sell sponsorship for it lead me to a grade so bad I had to take a dance class to graduate. The less said about that, the better. After some begging and pleading, the day was saved. The punch line? Links to this post. There are some elements of nostalgia that we remember so fondly that revisiting ...

Thursday, November 4, 2010. The Devil’s Relationship Advice For The 21st Century “Gentleman”. I’m going to be serious here. Usually when I write blogs or occasionally create a funny “Matt Hunter Says” video, it’s about something fairly light-hearted, maybe a tad controversial that has had some effect on my life or the public consciousness. But this one isn’t the least bit funny or controversial. Nope, I have no “funny ha-ha” graphics or cartoony music or silly voices for this one. Why bother investing th...

Matt Hunter Says: October 2009
http://matthuntersays.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html
Saturday, October 3, 2009. I've already told the Dave Matthews story, so no need to rehash that or repost the video here. But over the last few years, I've played around a lot with setting Looney Tunes to music. My method is pretty simple: I download the cartoons from Youtube or elsewhere, and then take snippets from them and arrange them to an Mp3 of a song using Windows Movie Maker. Radio Nowhere" by Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band. Insane In The Brain" by Cypress Hill. Lawn Chair High" by Rehab.
