Welcome to LiCata Lab

LiCata Lab - Protein Structure and Function Lab. Our laboratory studies proteins: most particularly protein-DNA and protein-ligand interactions, along with protein folding and stability. Our work is primarily focused on the energetics and global structural attributes of these processes and how they are controlled. We utilize several different model systems to address questions in these areas, including the Type 1 DNA polymerases from. Dept of Biological Sciences. Baton Rouge, LA 70803.

Our research has been focused on biogenesis of iron-sulfur clusters and redox regulation of iron-sulfur proteins. Iron-sulfur clusters are ubiquitous, and deficiency of iron-sulfur clusters has been associated with many human diseases including cardiovascular diseases, type II diabetes, neurodegenerative diseases, and cancers. By combining molecular biology and biophysics tools, we intend to illustrate dynamic metabolism of iron-sulfur proteins in response to cellular oxidative and nitrosative.

Welcome to the Department of Biology. English / Français. Cell and Developmental Biology. Exciting research in the Woolley Lab. Using fMRI, an integrative sensory region (NCC) is uncovered that responds selectively to courtship songs in female zebra finches. Moreover, unlike auditory regions, activity in the NCC parallels behavioral preferences and thus appears to be a novel node in the avian circuitry for evaluating acoustic information for mate choice. And Van der Linden A. Giving to the Department.
