Biophotonics Review: January 2011
http://biophotonicsreview.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html
Sunday, January 16, 2011. Optogenetics: controlling cell function with light. Nature method's method of the year 2010. Has been announced on an emerging method that is called Optogenetics. The combination of genetic and optical methods enabled scientists to explore biological processes with high temporal and cell-specific resolution. Not only neuroscience but also other cell/tissue related fields have now started to utilize optogenetics to open new landscapes for the study of biology. Ahmet F. Coskun.

Biophotonics Review: February 2012
http://biophotonicsreview.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html
Friday, February 10, 2012. In many third world and developing countries, the distance between people in need of health care and the facilities capable of providing it constitutes a major obstacle to improving health. One solution involves creating medical diagnostic applications small enough to fit into objects already in common use, such as cell phones — in effect, bringing the hospital to the patient. Here we list some of the emerging cell-phone based diagnostics technologies:. Ahmet F. Coskun. PNAS 20...

Monday, August 13, 2012. Biology Games for Biomedical Research. Games have become important part of the cultures, bringing lots of entertainment and creativity to the societies. Beyond the traditional understanding of games, recently researchers have started to explore new sets of "serious games" that could provide effective means, including public understanding of science, crowd-source based diagnostics, physical therapy and as well as prediction of the protein folding.
