Biopolitics and Resistance

Sat, Jun. 24th, 2006, 11:00 pm. So yeah, I stopped reading "Black Sun" because of the glaring oversights of psychoanalysis. But I did start reading the less-theoretical "Genderqueer". Final thoughts... - Biopolitics and Resistance

http://biopolitics.livejournal.com/1893.html

Thu, May. 11th, 2006, 03:46 pm. I guess that’s about all I have to say for now. Most of all, this study helped me sort of narrow down and be able to know precisely what I was referring to when I talk about biopower and biopolitics. I think I’ll be adding more to this entry tonight when I think over it some more.

Deleuze, "Society of Control" - Biopolitics and Resistance

http://biopolitics.livejournal.com/1485.html

Thu, Apr. 6th, 2006, 01:44 pm. Deleuze, "Society of Control". On-line text of Deleuze's "Society of Control" which argues that there has already been a shift from a disciplinary society (Foucault's 'carceral city') to a control society. Http:/ www.nadir.org/nadir/archiv/netzk. Taken I believe from "Postscript on Control Societies," Negotiations. 1972-1990 (New York: Columbia University Press, 1995): 177-182. Another philosopher of Biopolitics to consider reading:. Giorgio Agamben, State of Exception.

Biopolitics...and resistance - Biopolitics and Resistance

http://biopolitics.livejournal.com/2264.html

Thu, May. 11th, 2006, 08:12 pm. Most usages of biopolitics seem to be based on two areas of research identified by Foucault:. Control of singles bodies (discipline). Control of population, the social body. HmmmI need to keep thinking about this. more to come later.

Biopolitics Throwdown

1 This Monday, those in the group who are unafraid of some snow made a few changes to the reading schedule. Agamben, Homo Sacer: Sovereign Power and Bare Life, pp. 1-12 and 119-188. Henry Giroux, Violence, Katrina, and the Biopolitics of Disposability. And for the following week…. WEEK 7 / MARCH 16.
