BirderRon's birding musings: February 2012
http://birderronindorktown.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html
BirderRon of Dorktown sits'n'stinks about what is happening the world of UK birds and birders. Tuesday, 21 February 2012. A mixed day but a good one. Yesterday was a birding day. Our plan was to visit three birding sites in one day, Welches Dam, Welney and finally Lakenheath Fen. We set off at 7.55am and arrived back here at 8.20pm. Over all we had a good day out but we couldn't do parts of Welches Dam because of the deep gravel that our scooters sank into. They will be receiving and email shortly. Anywa...

BirderRon of Dorktown sits'n'stinks about what is happening the world of UK birds and birders. Sunday, 28 April 2013. Yet more catching up and introducing a grandson to birding . he loves it! I knew I hadn't added anything here for some time But I hadn't thought it was eight months ago! Anyway, I'm doing it now, so here goes . We moved home in June last year so that took up a goodly amount of time getting settled in to our flat. Since the new year we've had . The normal Slimbridge set was there of course...
BirderRon's birding musings: Porkers and bird visitors

BirderRon of Dorktown sits'n'stinks about what is happening the world of UK birds and birders. Thursday, 6 September 2012. Porkers and bird visitors. It's been ages yet again since I posted in here. The simple reason for it is that we haven't been out birding. Jan had was in hospital for an operation and just after that we moved home. Now we are in a ground floor flat and felling very happy about it. We're hoping that now we are properly settled in we can get out and do some real birding. But one day las...
BirderRon's birding musings: July 2011

BirderRon of Dorktown sits'n'stinks about what is happening the world of UK birds and birders. Friday, 1 July 2011. Today I report on two days out, aren’t you lucky lot then ;-) ). OK then, last Sunday Jan and I eventually managed to get down to Rainham Marshes. It was really nice day but we were rather disappointed in the small number of birds that were about. The count for the day I suppose was around 30 species but we did get two year ticks, reed and willow warbler. Now there’s a point . After Rainham...
BirderRon's birding musings: March 2012

BirderRon of Dorktown sits'n'stinks about what is happening the world of UK birds and birders. Monday, 26 March 2012. To count or not to count. I read a number of birding blogs as well as writing this one very so often. One of the blogs I read is from Fleetwood Birder. He regularly says he visits his feeding station and when he does he counts the number and species of birds that visit it. I sit here reading those figures and marvel at them. Now don’t get me wrong here my fellow birders. See what I mean?

Saturday, March 3, 2018. SE Peru 1 – Two New Tours From September 2017. This itinerary very closely resembles the Butterflies and Birds tour I led with Jim Brock a few years ago, only covering the highlands from Cusco and then the Amazon-facing slopes down the very base of the Andes in the Cosñipata Valley. Our first stop was near Cusco at Lago Huacarpay, a large wetland complex surrounded by farming communities and ancient Inca ruins. This is a great place to see Plumbeous Rail walking out in the open.
Birding, Bird watching and bird feeding - BirderNet
Birding, birdwatching and birdfeeding. Parks are a great place to observe bird behavior. This Mute Swan and Canada Goose appear to be having a squabble. Photo by Moe Bosak. Declining Bird Populations: In the Fall of 2006, I remember being up on an old fire tower watching hawks. One of the people up there was lamenting about bird watching today compared to the 'old days.' This anecdotal reference has been quantified by the National Audubon Society, as detailed in the following news report.
Chris Mills Non Motorised Birding Year List
Chris Mills Non Motorised Birding Year List. As a birder who already likes to regularly get around birding from a bike - the prompt from my mate Simon Woolley in Hampshire was all it took (www.zootherapy.blogspot.com). So it's Norfolk versus Hampshire in the Non-motorised birding year list, unless one of us gets superfit and actually cycles out of their respective county! Tuesday, April 11, 2006. 251 Species of bird recorded without any motorised transport in 2005 a UK record! Apparently it's a UK record.

This webpage is the space where I’m supposed to pontificate at length on such subjects as, W. Hy I Love Birds. Hy You Should Love Birds, Why Birds Are Important,. And the like. Well, try as I might, even after many years of birding, I can’t do justice to the explanation of why I love birds, or why you should love birds, or even why birds are important. All I can say for sure is that every time I wander the birding trails, I observe something new. For details on the. Swallow Tailed Kite Crash Lands.

BirderRon's birding musings
BirderRon of Dorktown sits'n'stinks about what is happening the world of UK birds and birders. Saturday, 27 February 2016. Good morning folks; yesterday I did write my blog but when I came to post it, W10 began playing silly buggers again. This morning I have spent half-hour changing some of the settings back to where I had them before, so now I hope it will work fine again – at least for a day or two. All in all, I have come to the conclusion that I don’t like W10. I haven’t seen it for ages. ...Some of...
