http://www.birdingpal.org/guidebooks.htm

Bird Guide Books, CD's, Maps etc. Recommended by Birding Pals. Recommend a Birding Guide Book. For Alaska birding, here are my suggestions for books:. Nat'l Geographic Guide to Birds of North America is the best (most compact and yet good pictures, descriptions) field guide in my opinion. Saturday, February 8, 2014. Curing the Midwinter Birding Doldrums. One of my quests was the federally endangered Red-cockaded Woodpecker, a keystone species of mature longleaf pine forests. Luckily I succeeded in finding at least two by keeping a close watch on a clump of marked nesting trees observable from the road and listening for any vocalizations. Birding over my head | Look up, see more stuff

Birding over my head. Look up, see more stuff. Brightening up a dull day. January 1, 2016. First day of the year – fresh start – and local birding in the Blackwater valley was on my agenda, with Boy in tow. Headed West then East, and all was New Year gloom. The ancient pulse of germ and birth was indeed shrunken hard and dry. The camera stayed at home because light was in short supply. Pied Wagtails.
