Wednesday, May 27, 2015. Near the entrance was White Baneberry, Actaea pachypoda. Called Doll's Eyes because the china white berries have a purplish "pupil". The plant in Mundy was in such a charming alignment that a photo was mandatory. The leaves and flower head were in ideal arrangement. Other delights awaited me in the garden. Friday, March 13, 2015. Writing with Light- A Lesson from Niagara Falls. The result principally depends on the quality of light available. Subject matter, composition and focus all come after that. Arriving at our sixteenth floor hotel room overlooking Niagara Falls, the lighting was flat. The sky was a featureless gray. Here is what the American Falls looked like. Sunday, September 28, 2014. Adirondack High Peaks in Autumn. Upon hearing that there had been freezing temperatures in the Adirondack Mountain high peaks region in the third week of September, I got the lust to photograph there. Here is a summary of what I found. It was a beautiful day when I arrived around midday. Connery Pond near Lake Placid- panorama using iPhone 5S. The day was mostly calm, so reflections at Round Pond were nice. Love the play of glacial boulders and colorful trees at the pond.

Friday, October 24, 2014. Autumn is winding down. I went for a morning walk up a steep trail on Steege Hill and found that most of the color was on the ground, not in the trees. Wind and rain are to blame for that. Still, I found a subtle beauty that spoke to me. The morning dew left jewel-like droplets on the waxy leaves. I found another sparkling leaf nearby. You can see the sky color in the droplets. For all this, my favorite of the outing was this simple set of leaves with a soft blush of color.
