Call for scarlet elf cap records. Help us to improve our distributional knowledge of this uncommon winter / early spring fungus in Cumbria! It can be found on mossy half-buried twigs and dead branches in damp areas on woodland floors. Got the rain tally through from Marsali this evening for July at Mulindry which is up behind Bridgend, the figure was 5.6". back in 2010 it was 6.28 inches, say no more! Mark from the Scottish Borders had a count of around 500 Gannets fishing off Frenchman's Rocks at Portnahavan, He also had a steady passage of Manx Shearwaters flying South. If the weather was not very good yesterday, well today it has not been that great either, with the wind topping just over 63mph just after 4pm. Mind you when we had "our" top speed of 75mph back in January, spare a thought for the team players out on St Kilda, their "machine" topped 188mph before it packed in. say no more! A Big Life Year. Type your paragraph here. Dec 31 (day -1) -2014 Goes Out With a Bang. The birds are apparently impatient for our big year to begin. Today, Monroe picked up three new life birds, and I picked up one. Last night we camped at San Luis Creek Campground in Merced County, California. It was cold last night (27 degrees) and although it was still cold in the morning, it was quite birdy. Time for bed. We will start the year tomorrow in Golden Gate Park. Wish us luck!
