Joe's Blog: The Year List - January 2015
http://joebirding.blogspot.com/2015/01/the-year-list-january-2015.html
Monday, 26 January 2015. The Year List - January 2015. This year I have decided to try and photograph as many bird species as I can in a year. The only rule is that you have to be able to identify the bird in the picture. Here's a few of my favourites so far. The Oystercatcher was in Poole Harbour, off Shore Road. When Radipole is in sunlight it can be a real treat. Here's a Teal and a Mallard that were close to the bridge. This Great Tit was in the scrub by the car park at Durlston.

Joe's Blog: In the Shadows - 13th December 2014

Wednesday, 17 December 2014. In the Shadows - 13th December 2014. The sun coming out didn't really help because it came from where we were pretty much facing so the light wasn't very good. But it helped in the way that there was actually some form of a light source. The light did, however create an interesting sky with a silhouette of a Robin according to Dad, but I'm not convinced! Saturday, 28 June 2014. Looking for Nightjars again - 27th June 2014. Accompanied by Gabe, we set out to look for Nightjars, which Gabe had never seen before. We were welcomed rather nicely by a beautiful sunset. Gull flying across the sunset. Just one of the very few birds that we sighted on the heath. Deer were out and about on the heath as we continued to search for the nocturnal creatures. Saturday, 7 June 2014. Families Everywhere - 7th June 2014. Sunday, 1 June 2014. National Trust Purbeck Wildlife. Author Archives: Kevin Rideout. November 2, 2016. Settlers from the South. Forty years ago, when I started birdwatching, spoonbill, little egret and Mediterranean gull were all rare species and to find any one of them on a day’s birding was a good achievement. Today, I can go and watch them any day of the week without leaving Purbeck. Perhaps this is a case where climate change has allowed birds to extend their range northwards. September 30, 2016. At almost 2cm long, the...

Saturday, 28 March 2015. Another Gull at Radipole - 27th March 2015. Considering that it was a dull grey day, we didn't spend long taking photos but these were the best I got. For much better photos when the bird was at Radipole previously, go to Peter Moore's blog. And scroll down until you get to the title: Waiting for a gull like you. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Peter Moore's Wildlife Blog: April 2015
http://petermooreblog.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
Peter Moore's Wildlife Blog. Monday, 27 April 2015. If you had told me at the start of April that I could add Great Blue Heron. Two Reed Warblers (#162) were singing close together in a small reedbed on Studland. After some verbal jousting, they came together and became locked in mortal combat. The bird on the left established its superiority, almost drowning the bird on the right. The dominant bird flew off, leaving this one battered - but still alive. Sunday, 26 April 2015. Little Ringed Plover (#159).

Peter Moore's Wildlife Blog. Sunday, 27 July 2014. The view from the window of our holiday accommodation in Northumberland this week: Red Squirrel. But eventually he's had enough of these which is when the questions start. Yesterday, on the long journey up to Northumberland, where we are just starting a week's holiday, he announced 'I want to ask some. I want to know'. Questions'. 'Is there any other kind of question? I replied. 'Yes, there are 'I want to know if. Q 'Where are we going? The rules of Chee...

Peter Moore's Wildlife Blog: October 2014
http://petermooreblog.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Peter Moore's Wildlife Blog. Friday, 31 October 2014. I was on holiday on the Isles of Scilly when Britain's first Eastern Crowned Warbler was found in Co Durham in 2009, and was disinclined to follow the example of one well known twitcher who left the islands immediately to see it. The second record for the country was identified after the event a few years later, having been pulled out a ringer's net in Hertfordshire and released, never to be seen again. A close up showing the pale median crown stripe.
