Mausers, Medicine, & Motorcycles: February 2014

Sunday, February 9, 2014. Now I remember why I don't shoot this one more often. Conducive to extended shooting sessions. As in, each shot is like catching a strongly thrown baseball without a glove. The cylinder release plowing a groove into my thumb isn't the enjoyable either. That said, I doubt I'd notice either of these were I to actually need the revolver instead of shooting it for fun, a sentiment I'm sure Brazilian soldiers carrying these in the Italian campaign of 1944 shared. Links to this post. That must seem utterly irrational to a large segment of the population Which is disappointing. I thought the outcome rather appropriate. My comments on the matter:. 1) If someone has forcibly entered my house, they've established their disregard for the law in breaking and entering. One has to...

By chance, I found a single 8 lb jug of Winchester 748 gun powder while stopping in to check out a small town sporting goods shop today. $161, plus tax. A quick check of the smart phone verified that it was cheaper than going through Midway for a single jug of the same size. If they'd had any. Links to this post. The next comment got my attention again, although not in a good way: "Gimme a minute, and I'...

Sunday, April 7, 2013. Shooting the S* t. Got an invitation from a neighbor to try out his new .44 lever action and reloads, as well as his father's Winchester Model 94 that he'd found when his father passed, and just got around to loading up cast rounds for. Shooting other people's guns? Hell yes, I'm up for that. So what does one do when tired of shooting a small target with poor feedback? Links to this post. Links to this post. Tuesday, November 11, 2014. Not only can one chamber 7.5 French in a 7.5 Swiss chamber, but it will shoot reasonable well. Other than a blown-out shoulder on the cartridge. Next time, double check the cartridge box. OK, Ive reloaded ammo and fire antique rifles before, so Im with you most of the way, but Im not sure what a blown out shoulder on a cartridge means. Good day to head to the range with a Swedish M96 rifle built in 1900, last fired in the '90s, with ammunition assembled from components purchased and put away about about the same time. Nice change from living in an area where I'd probably be throwing on a set of Carhartts to stay warm while shooting now. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Southeast, United States. Farming Salt & Light: Beginning a Local Prepper Network: My Unfolding Story

Farming Salt and Light. Don't let your hearts be troubled or afraid! Thursday, May 24, 2012. Beginning a Local Prepper Network: My Unfolding Story. I have recently become aware of 4 women in my circles who are also preppers. I wanted to create a local group to share fellowship and skills but I didn't know if any of them did. So I sent out this email to see how they felt about the topic. I've taken out any details and left it in the casual tone I wrote it in, as I know these women already. Then after I ha...

Click the link to see images of the options! With baby #5, due sometime at the end of July or beginning of August, I decided to return to cloth diapering. I did this for three reasons:. I just do not have an extra $20 a month to spend on diapers any more. Unlike disposables, cloth diapers are infinitely reusable and take up little space. And dis...
