Reflections on the journey. In my last post I talked about the concept of castling in response to the stone of offence . If that makes no sense it’s probably worth reading my previous post! Today I want to reflect on three r’s that can help prevent offence becoming a building project. The key is not to. Don’t get me wrong I’m not suggesting it’s easy but it is possible and a much happier and healthier way to live mentally, emotionally and physically. When something painful happens its important to reflec...

Reflections on the journey. I took this picture while on holiday in Cape Verde in October 2012. Sarah and I were visiting a school run by a charity to provide local children with the opportunity to attend school. This Portuguese saying literally translated is:. Stones along the way? One day I will build a castle. But I thought about this saying in a completely different way. Offence mishandled becomes a stone we end up using to build a fortress around our hearts to keep all potential offenders at bay!

Reflections on the journey. Guarding the garden of my heart. In my previous post I suggested that a garden is a more appropriate analogy for the heart than a castle. In saying that, I’m not suggesting the heart doesn’t need protection – the anatomy of the physical body tells you that it does. In fact Proverbs 4:23 (NIV) encourages us:. Guard your heart because everything you do flows from it. But that’s another post. Anyway back to my point. Based on the original Hebrew a legitimate way to translate ...

Reflections on the journey. If God loves me he has a funny way of showing it – the orphan heart. So apologies to those of you who thought my last post was a bit of a cliff-hanger. I didn’t intend to leave you all in suspense. I just didn’t want to pack too much into one post. If God loved me he had a funny way of showing it. Strange that it took me so long to see it but many years later my life message was to become not always easy but never alone . This entry was posted in identity. October 3, 2014.
