Saturday, August 1st, 2015 /. It was a purely lovely day today, filled with nothing much to do. I realized not so long ago that there are more and more of these "no plans" evenings and weekends happening. I used to be so busy! Martin and I have one more episode of Sense8. To watch tonight and then we have NOTHING. All the shows we watch are either over for good ( Glee, Mad Men. Or not starting until fall or NEXT spring ( Downton Abbey, Outlander, Game of Thrones, Orphan Black. 2015-08-01 06:35 pm (UTC).

Tuesday, July 28th, 2015 /. One of my colleagues (who also doesn't have much to do this week, obviously) went with me, and gave me a hard time about the fact that every frame I picked up was basically identical to my current ones. But all the rest were so CLUNKY! So BIG AND ROUND. I am not a fan. My face is fat enough without big round glasses making the effect even worse. Will it be weird if I spend a fortune to buy eyeglasses that are essentially an exact replica of the ones I already have? I agree....

Every time I post a picture of spring here, anyone who’s in the rest of the country (and, as such, completely drowning in snow) gets quite upset. But its not my fault that this town manages its seasons in the proper timeframe. And I’m happy to see it here, as our winter was long and grey and tiresome. The opinions in the ...

Have you ever had one thing that felt like a real revolution in your teaching? These kind of moments are rare, but when they happen, they really change how you think about things. That happened to me a couple of years ago. It started very innocently, when a student comment on an evaluation was simply,. How would I do that? What would it change?

Sunday, August 21st, 2016 /. I had dinner with Debbie and Camilla on Friday, a lovely evening of sushi and talking. After I got home, we watched the Swedish women play in the Olympic soccer final; what a bummer that they lost! Still, silver is nothing to sneeze at. Did I mention that Martin has a second job? I'm glad this was a relaxing weekend because the next one will be crazy: hosting dinner on Friday, oh! On Saturday, Karin is hosting a crayfish party here (! It's hard to believe that summer is drawi...

Friday, August 7th, 2015 /. If my math impairment doesn't once again trip me up and if that isn't THE MOST TYPICAL THING I COULD HAVE DONE, I don't know what is. *sigh*. Yesterday, my little Livejournal. That's right, I've been writing here, right here, in this spot for. Well, we managed the cherry tree. Anyway, that post seems to typify my entire journal. :). Back then, Martin was 5.5 years old. Karin was 4. Hard to believe that she just turned 16 and he will be 18 come December. U2 With or Without You.

Sunday, August 28th, 2016 /. My dinner went really well, though as usual, I had a hard time with patience.I didn't want to wait long enough between courses and there wasn't a decent interval between the first three. :) Impatience really is one of my besetting sins. Especially when it comes to planning a dinner apparently! Anyway, I'm recording the menu here, for posterity, because I was really pleased with it! Creamy Garlic and Broccoli Soup. Delicious Chicken with Gorgonzola Topping. Fresh figs are some...
