Aww this is poo! The (Com) Poser Award was devised by Meg and Quang after they observed Gump and Gimp at the gym setting their own new routes and then getting other people to climb them just to stroke their own egos. The award was jointly given to both Tom and Adam for their ego-pumping habit of route setting in the gym. Yeah, alright, fair cop. I guess we deserved that. But honestly, if they changed the routes at the gym more often. whoops! Nearly went all Nailclipper then.

People expect you to turn up at this time of night, for heaven's sake! Now the same thing happened a while ago to me, but this time I was completely amazed at the source;. Tom and I decided that we would finish the day with a lead of Fascination (21) and it was Tom who put up his hand to go first. no problem there you say, and I would agree. So did I end up getting that belay? Nope, in fact the task fell to Lieutenant Dan with Tom announcing that he was going to go home. For a High Beam? It doesn't get m...

Spring 2005

Okay, I know it's been a while, but really, not much has happened; Winter means climbing indoors for the most part, and while it is okay, it's not outdoors, so, well, the motivation is a bit low. A while back Tom, Meg and I (Gimp) headed out to Morialta (Far Crag) for a climb. Starting with a top rope of Illequipt (18) and then The Crunge (21) Tom and I then had a rest while Meg climbed Shedidit (15). All-in-all a good day. I CAN'T HOLD IT IN! It's currently the 16th of September and we have exactly a mo...

This fishing holiday on the Sand-Baggers site will probably get my butt kicked by Mrs Gimp, but what could she expect when going away with a group of climbers for a weekend? While the climbing was kept to a minimum, this awesome weekend away did provide us with some fun moments, including some deep water soloing and bouldering new routes in a very spectacular setting. Says it all really. While there The Gimp tried his hand at a short but difficult little boulder problem found by Jason who had been climbi...

Well, you would have thought that anything that could happen this year was pretty much done, but no! Tom managed to work his way through one of the toughest moves he is ever likely to attempt. By all accounts he handled the crux with relative ease, taking just a little over a year to finally work out the sequence and gather up the courage to commit to the move (not bad considering Quang has been working on the same problem for 9 years! What the hell are you talking about Gimp? We had quite a few bleeders!

Billiard Table 2 April. I wasn't there (sore finger. But Tom, Matt, Alex and Therese went out for a climb. From what I understand the order for the day was watching Gump blow himself out trying his new project Resisting A Rest (22) on lead for several hours in 36 C heat. I think others got a chance to climb, but it seems it was Tomday, so I didn't hear about anything else. All belaying and no climbing makes Adam a sad boy. Yes, I went, no, I didn't climb. The return Of The Sand-Bagger. Stu declared that ...

Gym 3 Feb 2005. Hmmm, back in the gym tonight, bad weather, and no-one was game to trust my instincts. Gump, Dan, Gyro and I (Gimp) went to the gym and did some climbing. There was a grade 19 route that was written up as a 23 that had the newbies absolutely stoked that they were doing a 23. Yeah, well it's not a 23 if I can eliminate 5 holds from it. That's about it, Alex left early to go and eat something resembling tadpoles, (I think that's what she said), or were they two separate conversations? Tom a...

Nailclipper Awards

One who makes self-indulgent comments revealing just how precious they really are. The Nailclipper Award can be awarded by any member of the group who hears a suitably oh poor me type comment or witnesses a behaviour that is patently self-indulgent. The Nailclipper may not be passed on by nomination from the current holder without agreement from another group member as that would in itself be a Nailclipper act. Well, Gimp, you got sucked in big time! Some weeks ago I innocently remarked that I knew someo...
