A model of melodic antici……. pation. Archive for June, 2007. Brazilian Fluid Concepts Class Library, etc. June 20, 2007. Alexandre Linhares is teaching a seminar about Fluid Concepts. And has started a discussion on Google Groups. Related to the development of a general class library. It seems to be written in Delphi (Pascal) but I’m hoping he switches to Java. In any case, I think it’s long overdue and I’m looking forward to helping develop the library. You are currently browsing the SeekWell. Get every...

Alexandre Linhares is teaching a seminar about Fluid Concepts. And has started a discussion on Google Groups. To distinguish it from the older Seek Well programs and the Seek Well microdomain. Musicat uses an expanded version of the Seek Well domain to make things more musically plausible, at the expense of handling additional complexity&...

A model of melodic antici……. pation. Archive for December, 2006. December 27, 2006. I am shamelessly copying the SeqSee blog. And trying out my own, using Word 2007’s new blogging capability. If you’re reading this, it must work. My initial goal is to get a simple architecture up and running that will simply be able to fire up a bunch of codelets to process a couple notes input to the workspace. These should form relations and groups between notes, and make predictions for melodic continuations.

Vol 27, no. 4) mentions a workshop in the field of Computational Aesthetics. Aesthetic reactions such as the sense of novelty and the genre of suspense are often the result of expectation violation and may be governed by underlying “sweet-spot” equilibriums. A model of melodic antici……. pation. Review: Music and Probability (ch. 1-3). January 24, 2007. This is my initial summary of chapters 1-3 of David Temperley’s new book. More to come as I read through the book! The problem that I have with expectation-based or probability-based theories of music, is that, in much of the music that people listen to, the probability of the occurrence of the next note is always 100%. Uncertainty about what note is coming next may have some effect on our appreciation of musi...

Knuth: Generating All Combinations | SeekWell

A model of melodic antici……. pation. Laquo; Computer music composition patent. Mind and Computation Talk, Monday, Dec. 3. Knuth: Generating All Combinations. November 17, 2007. I ran into a tricky little problem today: efficiently generating all combinations of k elements from a set of size N. I came up with some ideas but they weren’t efficient enough. I turned to a Knuth Volume 4 preprint. On it to get all the members. Note that I had a chance to use the C# 2.0 yield. Test class: CombinationsTest.cs.
