Bought some clothes today for a buck ten. Also spent a buck on pants. Pants are clothes aren’t they? Maybe it says parts. Parts for what? July 29, 1914.

Went to the Ohio Union in evening. Solon makes no mention of “All Hallows Eve”. Indeed it was not until the 1930’s that the custom of Trick or Treating. Began in the united states. Putting up ice was a common chore during the winter prior to refrigeration. The ice was cut from a pond or lake then stored in an insulated ice house for use during the warm months. Here is another reference to the unknown Aunt Sarah (see April 11). Again I searched through my family tree looking for possible matches yet found none. Solon is learning about the domestic side of farm life, helping his aunt with housework and picking up his younger niece Mary,. Solon is very unclear on this point.
