Wednesday, April 24, 2013. I think the biggest problem with this book is that the author sets up a no-win scenario. Our main character can either give up all semblance of a "normal" life to stay in the convent where she can at least paint or she can give up painting to have a "normal" life with a guy we soon realize is a jerk. Actually I'd say it's a guy who wrote a bunch of books in the late 19th Century, but only one anyone now days remembers. That guy would be Bram Stoker, the author of Dracula. The Vampire Diaries, Interview With the Vampire. Etc etc. ad nauseum- all stems from that one book that came out at the end of the 19th Century.
