...That Black Girl: conversations
http://blackamerican.blogspot.com/2013/09/conversations.html
Just calling it as i see it. Saturday, September 28, 2013. So, i've been in two recent conversations that kind of bugged me. there were two scenarios where white people around me felt the need to relate their experiences with their parents' racism. why would i want to hear some nasty comment your parents said about black people? She surely wasn't white. she is a person of color! But i just thought, that that conversation was kind of offensive in the first place. second of all, "colored"? I guess because ...

Just calling it as i see it. Saturday, March 31, 2012. I have been away too long! But i've had this burning issue i've been wanting to blog about for the last month and i've finally found some time to sit and blog about it. So, about a month ago i met up with three of my bestest girlfriends. they're the type of friends that i don't see often, but we have the type of friendship that even if we go a year without getting together, it's like i had just seen them yesterday. Saturday, March 31, 2012. Sat Apr 0...
...That Black Girl: grow
http://blackamerican.blogspot.com/2013/01/grow.html
Just calling it as i see it. Friday, January 18, 2013. What really got to me was that this black woman went on to say that 'us black people, our hair just doesn't really grow. so that's why WE wear weaves'. o.m.g.i think i choked on my muffin. i could tell my looking at her that she felt like she was getting some kind of validation or approval or bonding with them somehow? I wanted to speak up and say "no dear. YOUR. Hair doesn't grow.but MINE. None of us black people have hair that grows? I wash my hair...
...That Black Girl: speak
http://blackamerican.blogspot.com/2013/01/speak.html
Just calling it as i see it. Wednesday, January 30, 2013. I was sitting here trying to figure out which feels more natural- me speaking in my normal, everyday "white" sounding voice, or my "black" voice which comes out naturally when i'm tired or relaxed- if i want it to. I don't let myself though because of the fact that she is white, regardless of how she sounds and i will not play into the stereotype. Wednesday, January 30, 2013. Be yourself at all times. Be comfortable with others who are differe...
...That Black Girl: "it's"
http://blackamerican.blogspot.com/2011/07/its-there-not-it.html
Just calling it as i see it. Monday, July 04, 2011. Did anyone see beyonce's interview about a week ago with pierce morgan? Or does anyone ever listen to (idiot) sherri shepherd on the view(because she talks the same way)? Why can't these black women speak proper english? Did they just give up and say 'who cares? After they made a million bucks? I HATE WHEN PEOPLE SAY "ITS" IN PLACE OF "THERE WAS" OR "THERE IS". For example, beyonce said something like "i was nervous because IT was so many people! I gues...

Angie Says: Say My Name, Say My Name......
http://angiesays1.blogspot.com/2011/10/say-my-name-say-my-name.html
This is where I get to say the stuff I want to say, and you get to read what I said. Thursday, October 06, 2011. Say My Name, Say My Name. Did you know that somewhere someone is calling you by a moniker that is not your own? They may even be referring to you by the clothes you wear, your hairstyle or the car you drive. Sometimes they know your real name sometimes they don’t. 8221; LOL The guy never even noticed. It’s really easy to slip up and call someone by their nickname to their face. So be...This ar...
Winfield's Poetry Corner: Summer Sunrise in Williamstown
http://wpoetrycorner.blogspot.com/2008/10/summer-sunrise-in-williamstown.html
Friday, October 10, 2008. Summer Sunrise in Williamstown. The world is quiet. As 'Prelude to Sunrise' crescendos,. Sheep Hill trembles with life. Early morning's mist beads on the cheek. Of every leaf,. Trailing down the cleavage. To the tips,. Teardrops hanging from every lash,. Weeping at creation's beauty. And like I know this place,. This place knows me with bittersweet fondness. A chilled warmth,. Like a summer sunrise in Williamstown. First light fuses past the horizon,. And with the sun,.

Thursday, January 8, 2009. I want to inflict. If not for sanity,. The malice I harbor. Would allow my death. Who holds my love. For the way she. Leaves me emotionally impotent,. I would make it. So she would never. My passing would be heroic…. Like saving her life,. From out of in front of a bus. To always make her wonder. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Subscribe To Winfield's Poetry Corner. Winfield's Poetry Corner: October 2008
http://wpoetrycorner.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html
Saturday, October 18, 2008. I have only seen him wear it once,. The day of Papa's funeral. A dulled gold watch,. Kept atop his chest of drawers. In one of his weathered wooden boxes,. Under ancient receipts, credit cards. And childhood pictures of his children. Me and him,. He showed it to me right before he put it on. As he first clasped that weary watch to his wrist,. My hero began to deteriorate. Tears in his eyes,. He looked at his last son. Not even yet a man. Three came before me. Coffee and a hug.

There is a strange strength in this poem, but as a woman it makes me shudder! As for the poem itself, I like it for the flow and the poignance. Email it to me at chaikadai@gmail.com.
Winfield's Poetry Corner: Lost Friends
http://wpoetrycorner.blogspot.com/2008/10/elasticity-of-us-was-unparalleled-we.html
Tuesday, October 14, 2008. The elasticity of us. Was unparalleled, we thought. Holding a bond, strong. Enough to endure the detailed illustrations of. Serrated our synthetic amity and it bleeds me. Like how we came to pretend. Coffee and a hug. Every now and then. Kind of, sort of makes. But who, in your world, could I play. In a reoccurring role? Syringing my faux feelings to make your heart beat or risk. My true nature exposed. In relation to your Stimpy? Are we not broken,. Kind of, sort of. 127 hours...
Angie Says: Crazy Pink Guns!
http://angiesays1.blogspot.com/2011/09/crazy-pink-guns.html
This is where I get to say the stuff I want to say, and you get to read what I said. Wednesday, September 14, 2011. Recently MyKiddo and I were talking about the possibility of me and Mr. Angie purchasing a gun.safety issues, size, etc. She suggested I buy a pink gun. Now, I'm pretty feminine and all that. However. A gun is not a barrette! It's a freakin' gun! Only you and the person you're about to shoot are gonna see it, right? I mean you don't wear it on a necklace or attach it to your key chain.
Angie Says: To Do List
http://angiesays1.blogspot.com/2011/11/to-do-list.html
This is where I get to say the stuff I want to say, and you get to read what I said. Friday, November 04, 2011. I tend to lose focus on things I need to do for myself. So ever so often I need to remind myself. Here goes! 1 Stop reading EveryBodyElses damn blog every single day. 2 Write on your own blogs more often. 3 Take 30 minutes for yourself EVERYDAY. 4 Go to church. 5 Trim your split ends. Work on one of your projects. 7 Make a date with Mr Angie (get a baby-sitter). And play the lottery.
Angie Says: Gardens, Wishes and Blessings.....

This is where I get to say the stuff I want to say, and you get to read what I said. Saturday, July 20, 2013. Gardens, Wishes and Blessings. Tipsy sent me a picture of a diy project she just completed. Which led me to think about the many unfinished projects I have lying around. I haven't found a chair for Masons desk. The plant stand in the yard is still not sanded and painted. The new winter coverlets for mason's bed are not complete. And so on and so on. So, I started feeling kinda blah. But!
