THE DEMISE OF BILSTON BOROUGH COUNCIL. Bilston s first local government control was a Board of Health established in 1850. This was replaced 44 years later with an urban District Council of which Mr S.B.Cole was its inaugural chairman. Proposals for change had first been announced in 1957 with the publication of the Local Government Bill. We meet every Wednesday in Room 5. At Bilston Community Centre from 12:30 PM to 3 :30PM. The group meets to practice and improve their skill in Painting and Drawing. We also enjoy the fellowship and friendship within the group. We used mixed mediums e.g. Acrylics, Water Colour, Pastel, Oil etc. We welcome new members whether beginners or experts (or anywhere in between! The money was obtained from a bid to the New Opportunities Fund (NOF) and CMF funding. This Funding finally ran out on March 31. 2006, following considerable discussions and viability studies, The Management Committee of Bilston Community Association unanimously voted to maintain an I.T. facility in Bilston Community Centre. The New Bilston Online Centre (Part of Bilston Community Association) was officially opened on Saturday July 23rd 2011 by Lord Bilston - President of Bilston Community Association.
