Good not to mention:. The Golden Lion is a particular good pub and fortunately for us is situated in our local village of Tipton St John. Just up the road and through the woods from us is Combe House one of the country’s best country house hotels and restaurant. In October there is apple picking to be done in our old orchards.

But for a field biologist moving to central Louisiana from northeast Ohio was a profound biological experience. Always something new to see.

Edgar's, "The Happy Fisherman" is a friendly, family owned business that was one of the first established on Black Lake. It has been owned and operated by the same family since 1918 with some of our customers now being the fourth generation. Stop in for a week or a few days to enjoy some excellent bass, pike, walleye and crappie fishing. Our guests are always welcome at our evening campfires for "weenie roasts" or "smores". Or just sit and enjoy the stars and watch the moon rise across the bay.
