The garden location has its challenges. The gentle slope aids drainage, but not so the heavy clay soil. Raised garden beds, using free-draining sand mixture, improve drainage. High humidity in summer and severe frosts in winter take their toll on plants that prefer dry air or a temperate climate. The local nurseries love to see Tony pulling up in his trusty old ute to buy new plants to replace the old. About the Gardener - Tony Sexton. Tony has spent many happy hours scouring the local area gathering iron bark tree stumps, fallen limbs, sandstone and basalt to use as garden surrounds or features. Collecting leaf litter and mulch is also an ongoing job in order to keep this large garden fed and insulated. He uses only natural irrigation. One of Tony's favourite places to buy plants is Tim’s Garden Centre at Campbelltown. Check it out at www.timsgardencentre.com.au.
