Blessings From Africa - Our Walk in Faith

Blessings From Africa - Our Walk in Faith. Tuesday, March 13, 2012. Embassy Trip - Day 4 in Ethiopia. Today began again with getting up hoping to hear right away from the US Embassy. This time regarding when our interview appointment will be. That meant multiple refreshes of the email as we got ready, during breakfast, and as we gathered our stuff to go out. Finally, shortly after breakfast the elusive email arrived! Have we mentioned lately just how much we love and enjoy Fekadu and Joel? We had to keep...

Blessings From Africa - Our Walk in Faith: Embassy Trip - Day 1 in Ethiopia

http://blessingsfromafrica.blogspot.com/2012/03/embassy-trip-day-1-in-ethiopia.html

Blessings From Africa - Our Walk in Faith. Saturday, March 10, 2012. Embassy Trip - Day 1 in Ethiopia. After 13 hours in the air, we landed safely in Ethiopia! We are soooo not looking forward to that 17 hour trip back home. After about 8 hours, I start to think I’m not going to survive the sitting. We made it through getting our Visas, customs, and finding our luggage in less than an hour. It was so nice to come out of the airport to the familiar face of the hotel driver waiting for us! We spent the res...

Blessings From Africa - Our Walk in Faith. Monday, January 30, 2012. We would definitely not have survived this adoption journey without our amazing friends, Jen and Loren. Jen and Loren recently returned home from China with their son, Jonah. I encourage you to read Jen's blog post about seeing an adoptive child's experience through his/her perspective. It is beautifully written! And to Jen and Loren, we thank you for being there for us through every step of this journey! 9/7/10 App to IAN approved.

Blessings From Africa - Our Walk in Faith. Monday, March 12, 2012. Embassy Trip - Day 3 in Ethiopia. So why did we skip Day 2? New shoes, and a cool red hooded sweatshirt. The staff were so happy for us and the kids. We were only there 10 minutes then off back to the hotel to hang for a bit, dinner, then bed. Time You all mean so much to us. Thank you, thank you, thank you. March 13, 2012 at 12:16 AM. Keep writing. We will keep praying - love you both. m. March 13, 2012 at 10:38 AM. 9/9/10 1st visit to h...

http://blessingsfromafrica.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html

Blessings From Africa - Our Walk in Faith. Wednesday, July 13, 2011. We are super close to receiving our referral (according to our coordinator)! So close that we are no longer moving up on the waitlist when someone else receives a referral.we are THAT CLOSE to the top of the list! It is almost unnerving to know that our children are waiting for us, but we don't know who they are! I would really like to call our coordinator and beg, but that wouldn't be too mature. :). I got 4 shots yesterday (OUCH!

One girl among a bunch of boys: October 2012

http://onegirlamongabunchofboys.blogspot.com/2012_10_01_archive.html

Sunday, October 28, 2012. My mother would have been 66 tomorrow. October has been a difficult month for me for as long as I can remember, as every year I ached from the pains of not having the relationship I'd wanted with her. The pain this year is different. I'm missing her - just as I had for so many years - but now there's the added ache of finality. Finality on earth, anyway. Directly west of a park I know from my childhood. And I know her high school was just up the street . I ran past it! When I tu...

One girl among a bunch of boys: Summer bucket list

http://onegirlamongabunchofboys.blogspot.com/2013/06/summer-bucket-list.html

Thursday, June 6, 2013. This year is no different. We're two weeks into our summer and have already checked a couple of things off our list! Vacations to Disney, Memphis and Colorado. Road trips to explore our great state of Kansas. Our dear friends visiting from out of town for two days. A week at VBS and another at Upwards basketball camp. Visits to the Truman and Eisenhower Presidential Lirbaries. Lots of bike rides, pool days and family runs. Many trips to Worlds and Oceans of Fun. I {heart} my family.

One girl among a bunch of boys: Blessed...on our birthday and always

http://onegirlamongabunchofboys.blogspot.com/2013/05/blessedon-our-birthday-and-always.html

Saturday, May 18, 2013. Blessed.on our birthday and always. However, this year I really wanted to do something that focused solely on Bryan and would bless his socks off. I knew he'd love a date night with his closest friends. And I knew he'd love one restaurant in particular. So, I sent the invite.and waited a few weeks before calling the restaurant. Bad idea. Bad. When I called four days in advance, they were already booked for Friday night. You can see how experienced I am at this. As the vase says&#4...

One girl among a bunch of boys: My sons: "God's Word makes me feel loved."

http://onegirlamongabunchofboys.blogspot.com/2013/06/my-sons-gods-word-makes-me-feel-loved.html

Saturday, June 8, 2013. My sons: "God's Word makes me feel loved.". I love the time we get in the summer. I love plugging into my family without distraction. Love LOVE. LOVE! And I love this book. It is rocking my world! It is the perfect companion to my heart's desire to be intentional in all things. Confession: I have not read the entire Bible. Until 10 years ago, I didn't actually know that all those kids' Bible stories I'd heard when young were actually in the Bible. That dude was AWESOME. I told the...

One girl among a bunch of boys: VBS in pictures

http://onegirlamongabunchofboys.blogspot.com/2013/07/vbs-in-pictures.html

Saturday, June 15, 2013. This was my third year teaching Zach's class at VBS. There are about 110 kids in his grade, and in the past these kids were divided into 4 or 5 classes. This year, they were divided into two. I LOVED THE BIGGER CLASS! Having been at the church for 10 years, at the boys' elementary school for 4 years, and being a small group leader in Zach's Sunday school class for the last year, I knew about half of the kids in our class personally. This was such a blessing! I love these kids.

One girl among a bunch of boys: January 2013

http://onegirlamongabunchofboys.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html

Thursday, January 31, 2013. I grew up on ice skates. Thought I'd compete at the Olympics. I really wish I had a picture to insert here. Imagine nine year old me, in my favorite yellow skirt and brand new white Riedell ice skates. But they were legends when I was a kid. They were the things my little girl dreams were made of. Still, we had a blast. And I have a great imagination. I totally think I should take skating lessons again. Clearly my kids need to. The teams are assigned in such a way that the goa...

One girl among a bunch of boys: February 2013

http://onegirlamongabunchofboys.blogspot.com/2013_02_01_archive.html

Friday, February 22, 2013. We woke up around 6am yesterday to dry ground, with the promise of snowfall that we'd talk about for years to come. By 7am, white stuff was falling from the sky. By 7:30, it was accumulating. Snow was falling at a rate of 2-3" per hour. Lightning could be seen, thunder heard. I don't think I've ever seen anything like it before. The weathermen were calling it thundersnow. By 9am, it was really piling up on our deck. We measured 12" in the driveway. We're having a blast. I'd tol...

Blessings from Above

Recognizing God's Blessings in Our Everyday Lives. Wednesday, January 20, 2010. The aroma of Beef Bourguignon danced through the air from the kitchen to the living room, tickling my nose. Hhhmmmm.what a delicious scent. It made my mouth water. I was almost certain that I truly got a whiff of the famous dish that Julia Child. After watching the movie I decided to delve into the book Julie and Julia. I just had to know more about this woman who had become an American icon. What did I find out? Aired in 196...

Eli is always keeping us busy now. We had to go buy a gate just to keep him in one spot! He is just always trying to get into new things trying to understand how they work. He is a very smart boy! Blessings in a Bubble

Thursday, April 12, 2012. I thought I'd share this info to earn a few extra Smartpoints. The Homeschool Buyer Co-op. Thursday, July 14, 2011. So we just got back from a bike ride. Kat enjoyed her new bike and got to ride it about a mile up the road. It was her first time getting to ride down the BIG hill. She was going so fast and didn't freak out at all. It was also her first time going UP the BIG hill. She was so funny. She scared me to a stop yelling, "OUCH! Saturday, May 21, 2011. First Day of School.

Monday, August 6, 2012. Hello everybody, so really I’m not sure what to keep talking about. This past week we had normal things happen. Nothing really different when it comes to the work. We have been having some pretty crazy weather though. Yesterday we had an intense lighting storm. Around 5PM after church we were in the church and there was this huge crack of thunder and we knew the some lightning had hit close by. Well over there was just in the other yard where a new CVS is being built. Well i hope ...
