Fred and Jackie's Adventures Down Under: March 2006

http://bligittyblog.blogspot.com/2006_03_01_archive.html

Fred and Jackie's Adventures Down Under. Tuesday, March 28, 2006. What have we been up to? Our next set of photos are from the 2006 Commonwealth Games held in Melbourne over the past ten days. So, we'll start with the torch because, well, that's what the week started with. The water is part of the Docklands, down by Port Phillip Bay. And wow, talk about a torch let-down. This little plastic thing had a green LED light that moved up and down to signal it was "on". Cheesey. Who were screaming at:. The youn...

Fred and Jackie's Adventures Down Under. Tuesday, January 16, 2007. NT Part 1: Litchfield. This is the wetland we crossed to get to the first bit of our tour:. We started out with something terribly touristy, but great fun - the Jumping Crocs tour! They take you out on a river in a boat and dangle bits of meat over the side and.yeah:. These guys weren't huge - maybe 6 or 7 feet from nose to tail, but big enough. And look at that vertical! This one's for you, Jack. I need a reason. To take a photo of a.

Fred and Jackie's Adventures Down Under. Tuesday, February 28, 2006. So, in answer to Besha's question Fred and I live at:. 12/104 The Avenue in Parkville. It's actually the same building that Fred and Besha lived in with their Dad when they were kids. A little on the twilight zone side for Fred to say the least. But it really is beautiful, with a great view of a huge park and on the other side of park is the Melbourne Zoo. (You can hear the animals at night.). Thursday, February 23, 2006. Here's Jackie ...

Fred and Jackie's Adventures Down Under: June 2006

http://bligittyblog.blogspot.com/2006_06_01_archive.html

Fred and Jackie's Adventures Down Under. Wednesday, June 21, 2006. Nope, we're not dead. In fact, we're pretty good. Grace has been here for the past few weeks and it's awesome to have her here. But whatever; if Jackie wants to do some talking she can go right ahead. I'm just here to show off the photos and of course to say that I love and miss everyone. Okay, here we go. This is where my mother lives in Tasmania. Terrible what she has to put up with. Dew collects in the morning and is pretty. Okay, back...

Fred and Jackie's Adventures Down Under: NT Part 2: Yellow Water

http://bligittyblog.blogspot.com/2007/01/nt-part-2-yellow-water.html

Fred and Jackie's Adventures Down Under. Thursday, January 25, 2007. NT Part 2: Yellow Water. After Litchfield, we spent another night in Darwin, then drove into Kakadu National Park, a world heritage site owned by traditional Aboriginal people. The park is an amazing combination of landscapes - most of it is a sort of scrubby tropical bush, but there are also massive rock escarpments, wetlands, coastal mangroves and beaches (unfortunately not accessible to our car). I see you, you sneaky croc! Subscribe...

Umbrella Love: November 2009

http://umbrellalove.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html

Tuesday, November 24, 2009. I'm just starting to list some Durham prints on Etsy, to see how that works for me as a vending option. While I don't think of myself as a "fine art photographer", I get asked about my Durham prints enough that I decided to try out Etsy as a venue for selling them. I'll be adding more prints soon. I have always assumed, without a doubt, that it ultimately made it - that some lucky cat was not. Waiting on the other side of that fence.). Then, there's the other thing. I'm sure you remember my obsession with broken umbrellas (I even got around to publishing a Blurb book. I know this has been awfully text-...

I thought, and set out making a long list with a commitment to photograph every single listing as a personal project and editorial challenge. Umbrella Love: How Engaging

http://umbrellalove.blogspot.com/2011/05/how-engaging.html

Wednesday, May 04, 2011. I've had a couple of engagement sessions lately - one for a lovely couple whose wedding I'll be shooting in October, and one for my friends whose wedding, gloriously, I'll be attending as a guest (! First, meet Hillary and Kate. We pranced around downtown Carrboro together and took advantage of the beautiful day the the many colorful corners of town. Kacy Johnson assisted and we all had a lot of fun. Definitely looking forward to that wedding! Thanks to Mollie for assisting.

Thursday, July 07, 2011. Off the Screen, Onto the Page! It's far too infrequent that I get to see my work not on a back-lit screen, where so much of it winds up for web use, but held in my own hands on the printed page of a magazine or piece of print marketing. I always smile when I see my name in print - actual. Print - and eventually I tuck it away into my tearsheets file. Here are a few samples of late(-ish), dug out from the files. Was used in their beautifully designed Annual Report. A spread for Fe...

Thursday, December 10, 2009. Also in July, I provided the photography for designer Rebekah Meek. S redesign of Wavelengths Salon. S website. Wavelengths is a Durham institution - the place where I always dreamed of going when I was a pre-teen (when it was still haircuts from mom sitting on the bathroom counter). I had a blast spending the day with the hilarious and wonderful stylists, doing some goofy portraits. And some more "serious" ones. Fortunately, that's about as serious as those ladies get.

Thursday, October 09, 2008. It does feel good: your own photos on the front page of the local paper, above. The fold. Unfortunately, in all the press that this project has been getting - the project. I did portraits for and which I'm so excited about - this one piece neglected photo credit, so no one will know I shot them! Shame on you, Herald Sun. Usually I'm not crazed to get every piece of photo credit I can, but this piece was well-designed (and shit! On the front page of the paper! I could be wrong.
