Thursday, September 27, 2007. I think it's safe to say that this little fool isn't going to be too quick to get anywhere. Ever. Store manager Jay Jacoby displays a two-headed red slider turtle at Big Al's Aquarium Supercenter in East Norriton Pa., Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2007. The rare turtle is on display at the store. I'd like to think the best of me is still hiding up my sleeve" - - John Mayer. Friday, November 11, 2011. It's definitely autumn in Chicago now (with snow flurries shocking us yesterday), so I decided to don a few layers of fall-colored clothes and run some errands. I ran into a store-keeper acquaintance of mine and he noticed my metallic brown jacket. I love that color on you! You look like a penny! He said as he headed into the stockroom. I'd like to think the best of me is still hiding up my sleeve" - - John Mayer. Monday, April 18, 2011. Over my weekly Saturday breakfast with my 80-something mother, I mentioned what a wonderfully delicious dinner I had fixed for myself recently. In an attempt to enjoy a balanced diet, I try to stick to the meat/starch/veggie plan, so dinner was as follows: boneless, skinless chicken breast in a honey and wine sauce with sweet potato coins and garlic asparagus. I'd like to think the best of me is still hiding up my sleeve" - - John Mayer. Wednesday, March 09, 2011. The Case of the Missing Clothes. I recently returned from my annual jaunt to the Cubs spring training in Arizona, but I was not a happy camper. Okay, since it was 36 degrees in Chicago and 76 in Arizona, it was understandable that I was in a bit of a snit going home (oh, how I love me some hot weather! My bad attitude was definitely of my own doing (isn't it always? After making several unanswered ca...

The Notebook: How old is too old?

I'd like to think the best of me is still hiding up my sleeve" - - John Mayer. Saturday, November 05, 2011. How old is too old? Driving around my neighborhood recently, I came across a peculiar sight rolling past me on a sidewalk nearby. The guy was wearing baggy jeans, gym shoes and a hoodie. Nothing particularly unusual there, right? A question popped into my head, "If you are losing your hair, shouldn't you lose the skateboard, too? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). The online application started out normal enough.name, address, phone number, work history, education, blah, blah, blah. Of course, if (like me) you haven't filled out a job application in a while, you may want to keep your resume handy (hell! I don't remember when I started that job.two jobs ago! But then things got interesting. Like 'let's go back to math class' interesting. Then there's this one.

Tastes Like Burning*: June 2007
http://stinktown.blogspot.com/2007_06_01_archive.html
Sunday, June 24, 2007. I'm not Mr. Sports by any means, but this is a sports story that inspires a little mention here in Stinktown. Rod Beck was found dead. In his home on Saturday. Two things motivated me to write here. The first is that he was 38. This always freaks me out. It sounds pretty young to die to begin with, but then I realize that I'm only four years younger than that and I think "shit I'm old" and also reinforces that 38 is too young to die. At least for me. I say, " No, what? So, ever sin...

Friday, April 27, 2007. Nevada to the Pig. Sorry it has taken me so long to write this, but I've had a bit of an off week. But anyway, better late than never as some like to say. So, here we go. Remember last Sunday when I stopped in to have a couple of brews with my friends? I'm sure you'll survive without me, but I thought you should know what happened. Jerks. You suck. PS We went a few blocks away to the more accepting, Blind Pig Bar and Grill. Thursday, April 19, 2007. Bring On the Heat. I know it's ...

Sunday, February 25, 2007. I'm Not A Cannibal. This probably isn't right to say but every single time I see this photo I think the feet look like candy. Perhaps some chewy, delicious, gummy feet. Hugs, drugs, nearly a fight and everything else you might want in a going away party. There was even a celebrity (not really with us, but who the hell is keeping track? Aka the guy who flicks the cigarette at Stephen Baldwin's face in The Usual Suspects. Good luck, fool! Wednesday, February 21, 2007. Dreams....
