Color and finish studies were done in order to visualize various color schemes. The schedule was extremely compressed so exploration was limited to a couple very focused directions using the ear buds to start. Final direction was to use the Belkin brand color, a bright, fresh green to accent the dark and light neutral colors of each family. This final direction was then applied to the rest of the product line.

Microsoft hired Mesh Collective. To conduct upfront trend research to validate CMF for the targeted user group which is mid-aged females. Trends were identified for colors, materials and finishes, keeping in mind this is a premium product that has a lot of manufacturing constraints. This turned into an extended contract in which BLINK-iD interfaced directly with the factories and Microsoft’s ME and ID teams to implement the final CMF. Details of this project cannot be shown for confidentiality reasons.
