Blissfully Imperfect: Creative Me

http://blissfullyimperfect.blogspot.com/p/creative-me.html

I'm exploring textile processes and constructions. Which means I have great creative fun exploring fabric dyeing, painting, batiking, resisting, stamping, and on and on and on. Several years ago, through happenstance, a friend and I ended up in a mixed media beginners class. It opened up the artistic world to me and pushed me far, far outside my comfort zone. Whereas before, I was more in the follow-on and repeat-what-others-have-done camp. Now I am launched into the explore and create for myself realm.

Blissfully Imperfect: Thanks Mom!!

http://blissfullyimperfect.blogspot.com/2011/10/thanks-mom.html

Saturday, October 8, 2011. I'm the lucky recipient of this quilt from my Mom. (It's a combo birthday and Xmas present) She has done a fantastic job on its construction and quilting. I had become enamoured with a pieced quilt pattern and had a go at starting it. Along came a serendiptious find of Eleanor Burns Star Log Cabin. And it's a great result. Now guess, how many minutes does it take for a quilt to attract a cat (and dog)? Dewey and Lily - about 5 minutes after quilt was installed. Your quilt is ex...

Blissfully Imperfect: Vintage Thrifty me

http://blissfullyimperfect.blogspot.com/p/thrifty-me.html

I am fortunate to live in an area with ample access to thrift shops, garage sales, and antiques and collectible fairs. This and my naturally thrifty nature have allowed me to be a full time at-home mom to our now teenaged daughter. OK - I'm stubbornly avoiding swapping hours for dollars on someone else's schedule! I enjoy online reselling! The activities fit with ease into the hustle and bustle of family life, allowing me to earn a small independent income. I have two shops on Etsy: VintageBitsToo. Take ...

Blissfully Imperfect: World Quilt Show Florida - Drawn to Details

Sunday, November 13, 2011. World Quilt Show Florida - Drawn to Details. Sally Scott - Towards Infinity - South Africa. Managed to wrest a visit in to the World Quilt Show. In West Palm Beach,. Somewhat reluctant pre-teen in tow. Read that as 5.2 seconds per quilt between whiney noises.). The lighting in the convention center was typically poor for capturing good photos of these quilts, yet some of my images are passable! My flickr slideshow here. I was drawn to texture details yesterday. Do you make a to...

B’s Dreams Weblog. Sunday, Sep 18 2011. And Free motion quilting. Have any of you heard of Jamie Fingal. She has a cool DVD and concept called “rebel quilting.” She lays simple shapes on a blank piece of fabric, fuses them on in a pleasing arrangement and then quilts the heck out of it. I would strongly urge you to try out her DVD (available from Interweave. If you want to get the creative juices flowing. Here’s my first take on the concept. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. B’s Dreams Weblog. OK Two Weeks at a Time. Saturday, Oct 22 2011. Didn’t get around to posting — but did do — my art a week, so today you get two for the price of one post. The first one uses an image of my mother. The distressed look of the transfer made me think of the passing of time. The second uses Angelina fibers to get that shimmer on the flowers themselves. OK Two Weeks at a Time. December 30, 2011 at 1:27 am. I love the sky and flowers you did. So pretty. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

B’s Dreams Weblog. One week at a time. Friday, Sep 30 2011. A new quarter has started at school, and I’m gearing up for some challenging classes. I’m afraid I let my fiber art lag while I’m in school, so I have set myself a goal of one journal quilt a week for each of the 11 weeks of class. Here’s week one:. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. B’s Dreams Weblog. Wednesday, Mar 23 2011. And Free motion quilting. This piece started out as a gold and turquoise dye job that I loved, but I never knew what to do with it. I found the TAP transfer (created by Leslie Riley. Of the sparrow played on the colors of the fabric, so I used it on a cream background. I added some additional cream patches, quilted everything with this great gold and green thread and mounted it on a canvas that was painted burnt sienna with copper accents. Tuesday, Mar 8 2011.

B’s Dreams Weblog. Seeing the forest for the trees. Sunday, Mar 27 2011. And Free motion quilting. This applique piece was fun to create. The foliage is hand dyed or 25 year-old scraps (yes, I hoard scraps). The trunks are all scraps that have been collected in the last 10 years, the background is a hand dyed piece, and the land is more hand dyed fabric. Everything was fused on with Mistyfuse and then free-form quilted. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Address never made public).

Adventures in Decorating, Thrifting, Cooking, Fashion and Gardening. Out & About. April 27, 2014. My weekend was fun, how about yours? You know what they say about the thrill of the hunt. It’s true! My first stop at the Legacy Park neighborhood sale in Kennesaw, I scored a pair of World Market drapes for $20 and my first thought was my laundry room. This shot doesn’t show the color that well, but I really do like the mix of the floral in there. This is the drapes I hung from the water lines above wit...

Free Motion Quilting «B's Dreams Weblog B’s Dreams Weblog

https://haendi.wordpress.com/free-motion-quilting

B’s Dreams Weblog. Because this appears to be a big issue for many online quilters, I have decided to devote a page to free motion quilting. I don’t really have anything to say that hasn’t been said before, but here are some basics I have learned:. Practice samples under 12 inches square are just fine to start with. You can always bind them to make trivets, super-size potholders, etc. You can use scraps, which will alleviate some of the fear in trying a new technique on a “real” quilt. Oh, and while we&#...

First I boil the ravioli for 3 minutes, drain and put in a casserole dish. I defrost the spaghetti sauce and pour it on top of the ravioli. Next I put Mozzarella cheese on top and put it in the oven on 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Voila! Meal done. Normally I add a fresh salad and dinner is served. My older kids take the left overs for lunch the next day. What is your go to meal? Talk about a hard song to dance too! But he did it! They all had a wonderful time and came home with smiles on their faces.
