Blisters and Black Toenails: Adventures of a Racing Junkie: July 2015

http://blistersandblacktoenails.blogspot.com/2015_07_01_archive.html

These are my adventures as a runner, triathlete and limit pusher. Thursday, July 30, 2015. Small Victories - Bala Falls Race Report. G and I usually drive up and back the day of, which makes for a very early morning as Bala is about a 2 hour drive from the city with no traffic, of course. We hit the road around 5:40 am and the race started at 8:30 am so we had a *bit* of time. Of course, leaving that early you get to see this. Thanks to Mike Cheliak for making me smile and getting the shot. :). It was a ...

Blisters and Black Toenails: Adventures of a Racing Junkie: Ride to the Hills

http://blistersandblacktoenails.blogspot.com/2015/07/ride-to-hills.html

These are my adventures as a runner, triathlete and limit pusher. Monday, July 20, 2015. Ride to the Hills. Despite my lack of gym time last week I still managed to pack a lot into 5 days of workouts. I'm really enjoying riding with the Morning Glory crew. The rides are tough but everyone is super nice and very encouraging. And it's always a big group that comes out so I'm never totally on my own. This is how last week went down:. OFF due to neck. 2400m swim 7km run. And I re-hydrated with some local beer.

These are my adventures as a runner, triathlete and limit pusher. Friday, July 24, 2015. Kicking it with Two Turntables and a Microphone - Muskoka 70.3 Relay Race Report. Saturday morning Irina, Zin and their friend Louis, joined myself, G, David and Heather for a short pre-race ride. I did about 50 minutes and that was enough for me. I didn't want to tax my legs too much. Pic courtesy of Irina. As I passed. We were back in third place! On those hills. Seriously. This Sunday I'm racing in Bala Falls agai...

Tuesday, August 11, 2015. Tri Talk Tuesday: Triathlon Favorites. Today I'm linking back up with Courtney at The Tri Girl Chronicles. Phaedra at Blisters and Black Toenails. And Cynthia at You Signed Up For What? For Tri Talk Tuesday. This week's topic: Triathlon favorites. Boy oh boy, there are a lot of things I love about triathlons. Picking my favorites seems impossible. Also, an incredibly broad category. Still, I think I've managed to nail it down to a few salient points. My workout playlist is const...

Running, eating, and everything in between. I have a workout & a canfitpro GIVEAWAY for you! July 31, 2015. By Christina @ The Athletarian. Yesterday was a cross training/weights day for me and although I usually dread gym days, I feel good once I get them over with. I’ve been doing a strength training routine given to me by Coach PK. For the last few weeks but I wanted to change it up a bit yesterday so I made it up on the fly and it ended up being a pretty great workout! Circuit 1 (3 x 15):. On a varie...

Paul's Inane Ramblings: ENDURrun Ultimate Stage 6: The 10km Time Trial

http://blog.mora.ca/2014/08/endurrun-ultimate-stage-6-10km-time.html

Musings on the stuff going on with me. Saturday, 16 August 2014. ENDURrun Ultimate Stage 6: The 10km Time Trial. This stage has never been my favourite. It's another time trial, where the slowest runners get to start first, and each runner starts 1 minute apart. This time around it's a 10km road run, with a net downhill, and fairly flat. Sounds easy, right? I think my turn was around 14th or so, I can't remember. I remember it being pretty soon after we started. With an "on your mark, get set, GO! My kne...

Musings on the stuff going on with me. Sunday, 17 August 2014. ENDURrun Ultimate Stage 7: The Marathon. The start line at 5:30am. Just before start time, Lloyd gathered us all together and did a roll call. Some quick last minute words of encouragement, and we were off! This one in particular made me laugh out loud. Photo courtesy of Jeff Wemp. When the discomfort got to be too much to bear, I stopped for a walk. After a minute or two, the numbness would dissipate, and I started running again. Wit...By no...

Blisters and Blueberries

On satisfying two itchy feet and a healthy appetite. Sunday, 27 October 2013. I have a love/hate relationship with lasagne. With making it, anyway (the eating part is all love.) I find it hugely satisfying to pull a huge dish full of food out of the oven, I love that it easily makes so many portions, and its perfect for serving to lots of people at once. But honestly, any recipe that uses more than three pans will try my patience. 160;I made a beef lasagne. It looked so fresh before it went in the oven!

blisters and bug bites | Weekend Wanderings

Blisters and bug bites. January 11, 2017. January 10, 2017. On Oct 23, 2016 I had the privilege of riding in the Bike MS: NYC which was a 30 mile route around Manhattan. NYC is another area I haven’t been to in YEARS and I was disappointed I didn’t get to do as much sight seeing as I wanted, but that just means another trip back – preferably when it’s a bit warmer!
