Blisters, Broken Bones and Bumpy Trails. A celebration of the pains and pleasures of running. May 18, 2015. Somehow a month nearly flew by without me really noticing. My jaw pretty much dropped when I glanced at the date as I was filling out a form the other day. And that’s excellent news, because I’m sticking to a pretty rigid training plan right now. Well, rigid in the sense that running isn’t a part of the equation for a few more weeks yet. The Road Back to Racing. Not According to Plan.

Nothing disappoints me more than a mild summer where the temperature rarely exceeds 75 degrees. Last summer and the two before it were pretty depressing for that exact reason. Blisters, Broken Bones and Bumpy Trails. A celebration of the pains and pleasures of running. It’s Track Time! August 13, 2014. Maybe the exclamation is a bit much. After all, I have a complicated relationship with track intervals. Beginning my warmup prior to the workout fills me with anxiety that I never seem to quite get over. But the instant I’ve completed my track session, I feel incredible. There’s no half exclamation point, so I guess this headline will have to do. The Road Back to Racing.

Blisters, Broken Bones and Bumpy Trails. A celebration of the pains and pleasures of running. October 17, 2014. A couple of things I learned:. 1 I will likely never be able to run a marathon without having to take a bathroom break. I’m just grateful there are always so many porta potties. 2 There is a way to run and drink out of the aid station cups at the same time! 3 I can acquire blisters on nearly every square inch of my feet. 4 I very likely tore (just a minor one! It feels strange to type this, but...

Blisters, Broken Bones and Bumpy Trails. A celebration of the pains and pleasures of running. Not According to Plan. April 19, 2015. April 19, 2015. I changed my weekly long runs to either 14 or 15 miles every week, and actually found that I really enjoyed going a little bit further. It did wonders for my sanity while I was underemployed (Oh yeah, I have a full-time job as a lifestyle writer now! I headed to the starting line today to give it a shot. I immediately felt throbbing as I took off from th...
