Web spec stability
http://blog.alanmooiman.com/web-spec-stability
I was browsing Twitter the other day and I saw this tweet:. W3C - scrape the internet. How many people are using box-sizing: border-box; anyway? 10; #changethespec. Mdash; Dale Sande (@anotheruiguy) July 31, 2014. I don't think this was a serious request, but it's something that made me contemplate the nature of what's awesome and yet sometimes a massive pain about developing for the web. While I do of course apply. Would dramatically change the way sites look. I think a lot of people would agree th...
Dropping support
http://blog.alanmooiman.com/dropping-support
I'm typing this on a plane back from my first trip to Europe, and while there I had an experience that I thought was worth sharing. I run outside (still carrying my luggage, for some reason I didn't leave that with my wife.) As I scanned the buildings around the train station, a little nugget of information (life hack? At this point I should note that I have 2 email hosts- gMail and iCloud. So when I fired up the web browser, I had a minor heart attack. Windows XP. IE6. I do have to wonder about gMail th...
Thoughts on the Watch

Thoughts on the Watch. With this week's announcement, I don't have the same "OMG I can't wait" feeling that I did in 2007, but I'm definitely intrigued and will be buying an Apple Watch shortly after they are released. Jonathan Stark argues. So is this a miniature iPhone? Hardly. While it certainly doesn't stand on its own, even Apple has to start somewhere. I'm sure that after a few iterations of hardware and software that it will start to evolve in ways that we haven't imagined. Somewhere in the USA.
Apple's response to this whole NFC/CurrentC thing
http://blog.alanmooiman.com/apples-response-to-this-whole-nfccurrentc-thing
Apple's response to this whole NFC/CurrentC thing. Apple, to Business Insider. The feedback we are getting from customers and retailers about Apple Pay is overwhelmingly positive and enthusiastic. We are working to get as many merchants as possible to support this convenient, secure and private payment option for consumers. Many retailers have already seen the benefits and are delighting their customers at over 220,000 locations. These guys are assholes and this won't amount to anything.

CascadiaJS 2015 — whateverthing.com by Kevin Boyd — Portfolio and Technology Blog
http://whateverthing.com/blog/2015/07/18/cascadiajs-summary
Portfolio and Technology Blog. More Photos ». CascadiaJS 2015 was an amazing three-day Javascript and CSS conference hosted at Semiahmoo Resort in Blaine, Washington. It was also the first technology conference I've attended since 2011's Symfony Live in San Francisco. After a half-hour drive to the resort in the morning, I grabbed breakfast and then went to register. Had to wait in line a bit, but the swag bag and cool laser-cut wooden conference badge more than made up for the wait. They might not reali...

Alanna Cathcart | Scars tell stories. Stories build community.
January 26, 2015. Posted in Believing God. 2014 was a tough year. I chose. Do you have a word for the year? I would love to hear what it is. Click to Share this:. Love & Joy. December 24, 2014. This season has gone by so fast. So many things I intended on writing got put off, and the details of Christmas weren’t as I had hoped. But it was better. This season has felt sometimes rushed, but it has been full of love and joy and that’s better than any perfect schedule. Merry Christmas from The Cathcarts!
