After reading through a lot of material on the web on dynamic libraries (aka plugins) using C , I've come to a basic design for plugins in the server. It consists of using the functions provided by the OS (dlopen/dlsym for Unix-based systems including Mac OS X and LoadLibrary/GetProcAddress for MS Windows).
