Andrew Rivers: September 2014
http://blog.andrewrivers.co.uk/2014_09_01_archive.html
Friday, September 19, 2014. Details of next month's online discussion on Continuous Delivery. I'm a panellist on the first "Continuous Discussion" community panel - you're invited! From my perspective I'd like to recall a few of my own experiences that highlight the need for good DevOps and Continous Integration. There have been some moments of disaster, some moments of success, some moments of epiphany. Also, having worked on the same programme for the last 5 years I've been quite insulated from the out...

Friday, June 19, 2009. Team Foundation Server: Some thoughts on source control branching strategies. I thought I'd just write a short note on some of the source control branching strategies employed and how these relate to how I might use my preferred source control repository, Team Foundation Server (TFS). This has echoes with another customer I worked with last year ( very. Streaming Source Control Model. One of the sticking points here is that you can only check in changes against a single feature at ...

Tuesday, February 23, 2010. The endless debate on "what is an architect". Just been following the following debate in LinkedIn: http:/ www.linkedin.com/groupAnswers? The discussion started with the following comment:. This is what is killing Enterprise Architecture…. Quote from "John Zachman" article. -). And I thought I'd add my bit as well. I love this discussion, if only because it goes round in circles so much. Getting back to the original point though:. Someone whose primary role is development / im...
Andrew Rivers: BizTalk Host Polling Interval - Opportunities and Pitfalls
http://blog.andrewrivers.co.uk/2014/11/biztalk-host-polling-interval.html
Friday, November 07, 2014. BizTalk Host Polling Interval - Opportunities and Pitfalls. In BizTalk circles it's well know that in order to implement low latency it's useful to set the polling interval on the hosts to a low value (e.g. 50ms). This means that the host instances poll for work more frequently and hence messages spend less time at rest in the Message Box. Each host is allows configured values of the polling interval for messages and for orchestrations. Opportunity to Reduce SQL Load. Receive H...

Thursday, June 24, 2010. Using Team Foundation Server 2010 from Visual Studio 2005 and 2008. On my project the TFS server has just been upgraded, ready for us to replatform the software onto .Net 4.0. In the meantime we're still working on a mixture of Visual Studio 2005 (for BizTalk 2006 R2) and Visual Studio 2008 (for the rest of the .Net and database code). Team Foundation Server 2010 is not compatible with Visual Studio / Team Explorer 2005 and 2008 without the compatibility upgrade.

Friday, 21 June 2013. Uploading files with CURL in PHP the right way. Uploading files with CURL in PHP use to involve prefixing the file path with an @ using a POST param. But recently PHP has added curl file create() see: https:/ wiki.php.net/rfc/curl-file-upload. With this you can now upload a file as easily as:. Params = ['file key' = curl file create('. Curl setopt($ch, CURLOPT POST,1);. Curl setopt($ch, CURLOPT POSTFIELDS, $params);. PHP takes another step in the right direction ;-). Array(123 = 0);.
