Berlin: Metropolis of Vice | Eavesdropping Berlin
https://eavesdroppingberlin.wordpress.com/2012/02/21/berlin-metropolis-of-vice-berlin-in-the-1920s-and-1930s
Eavesdropping on all things Berlin related. Berlin: Metropolis of Vice. Documentary series of 3 programmes produced by the Canadian Public Broadcasting Corporation (CBC). The whole series looks at Paris, Berlin and Shanghai between the wars. Here the video for Berlin – a city notorious for all sorts of “sinful” (read debauch) behavior in the 20s. Somethings never change…. From the Youtube page: Berlin – Metropolis of Vice. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Address never made public).

The Dirty South in Berlin | Eavesdropping Berlin
https://eavesdroppingberlin.wordpress.com/2012/03/25/dirty-south-in-berlin
Eavesdropping on all things Berlin related. The Dirty South in Berlin. Is a new addition to the fast evolving American/ Tex-Mex. And somehow it works. The fitting music – good old blues and blue grass – was also a nice touch. Opened by the same people who started the Cupcake Berlin. Cafe across the street, this place seems to have been a labor of love. BBQ sauce, it was one of the best tacos I have eaten here in Berlin. The taco with kimchi was also a winner. Never thought I would see the day…) But...

Served Brut | Eavesdropping Berlin
https://eavesdroppingberlin.wordpress.com/2012/04/04/served-brut
Eavesdropping on all things Berlin related. One of the loveliest bars in Mitte has to be Brut. Situated in what was once SystM. On Torstrasse, Brut has transformed the space into a stylish gem of a bar. Upon opening last year, Brut quickly became my go-to bar. I go there because I know that the staff will always be welcoming, the lighting soft, the wine exceptional and the music good. It is a great place for a relaxed drink, after work, before the party or just because. And is great value for the price.

A drink at Würgeengel | Eavesdropping Berlin
https://eavesdroppingberlin.wordpress.com/2012/02/22/little-visit-to-wurgeengel
Eavesdropping on all things Berlin related. A drink at Würgeengel. Dresdener Straße, right next to the (notorious) Kottbusser Tor. Is fricking amazing. There are a bunch of great places all squished together on this tiny street. Within 80 meters, there is a cinema, a live jazz bar, a vodka bar, ottorink. Wine bar, an italian restaurant and a great cocktail bar called Würgeengel. Würgeengel has a touch of Berlin of the 20s (see previous post), but is at the same time pretty laid back. Open daily from 7pm.
