Nagoya, Nagoya desu. Monday, April 2, 2012. I made a second visit to South Korea this year, again to the city of Busan. I had time to visit a new neighborhood called Nampo-dong, a shopping area on the south side of Busan. Nampo-dong has both normal stores and street shopping stores (think real and fake Nike). Nampo-dong also has an observation deck called the Yongdusan park tower, it cost three bucks to get up there. Here are some views from the top of the deck. Also outside the tower was a large bell.

Nagoya, Nagoya desu. Saturday, February 23, 2013. Keeping in mind Nagoya is a city that is about the size of Chicago and I live right in the center of the city. A couple of nights ago I walked over to a Japanese fast food place that serves cooked meats and vegetables over rice called gyudon or butadon. The restaurant name is Sukiya. Nagoya, Nagoya desu. Sunday, September 23, 2012. This past week I was in Sacheon, South Korea and found myself under another Typhoon, this time Typhoon Sanba. Matt's Magical Mystery Sabbatical. Monday, January 15, 2007. Sabbatical Not Over, Just Shifted. So, for my sabbatical last year, I spent part of it in Europe. This inspired me to blog about my travels which can be found on this blog. As I hit the end of my sabbatical, I was offered a chance to move to Europe for an extended period of time. Nagoya, Nagoya desu. Thursday, January 31, 2013. Wake Up and Smell the Chorizo. I was lucky enough to travel to Detroit this past Christmas and visit with friends and family, my first time back to the US in over a year. For christmas my parents got me a couple of t-shirts from Mexicantown, including one from a grocery store called La Colmena or the Honey Bee Market. Nagoya, Nagoya desu. Wednesday, March 13, 2013. Repatriation, kind of. This past weekend my assignment in Japan ended. You can see my effort to clean up my apartment actually ended up producing what seemed to be a larger mess. After a cold winter, I was lucky to see my garden bloom one last time (no effort on my part). Typically when an assignment like this ends you repatriate. Nagoya, Nagoya desu. Tuesday, February 26, 2013. Last February I ran Ekiden, a large running rally organized by local industry. I was able to run again this year and shave just over a minute off my personal time compared to last year. 5K was 26.23 min and improved to 25 min. Not bad, but I'm not sure if that counts as progress. It rained but many people showed up to run. Saturday, February 23, 2013. I thought leaving money on the counter was a once-and-a-while thing, but I visited Sukiya again for lunch ...
