Musings, stories and photographs about my life on a small island off the coast of North Carolina. Wednesday, August 11, 2010. If you've visited Ocracoke even once (even if you just drove through on your way to the Hatteras ferry), you surely know about the Lighthouse. Odds are good that you know about the British Cemetery. And if you've visited fairly recently, you most likely noticed the historic marker commemorating the Beach Jumpers, on Highway 12 just outside the village. Links to this post. Please b...

http://islanddaily.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html
Musings, stories and photographs about my life on a small island off the coast of North Carolina. Monday, July 12, 2010. I found a broken sand dollar in my lap, which had been on the dashboard. My sister did a wonderful job of calming me down and calling 911. My back and neck hurt immediately, so I got an ambulance ride to the hospital on a backboard (two words: seriously uncomfortable), but the CAT scan showed no major injuries ("just" whiplash, I suppose.which is enough.ouch). http://islanddaily.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html
Musings, stories and photographs about my life on a small island off the coast of North Carolina. Thursday, September 30, 2010. Things we take for granted. The island is faring well so far during this storm. There's the usual flooding in the standard areas where it's expected, but no major issues that I've heard about. I haven't seen anyone kayaking down my street, so it's not as bad as that nor'easter last November. (Or at least not yet, anyway.). Links to this post. Links to this post. 3-6" of heavy ra...

Island Daily: Toni was smarter than they thought...
http://islanddaily.blogspot.com/2011/04/toni-was-smarter-than-they-thought.html
Musings, stories and photographs about my life on a small island off the coast of North Carolina. Sunday, April 17, 2011. Toni was smarter than they thought. My Mom and I attended the final performance of "We Must Kill Toni" today, and it was terrific! The cast was made up of 5 Ocracoke School students, all of whom did a great job and had many lines to memorize. The set was amazing.the Community Center was completely transformed! Oh, and don't worry.they didn't kill Toni. She was a smart cookie.
