No user-serviceable parts inside. Or outside, either. Sunday, December 28, 2014. Santa was good to me. I've been needing to upgrade a few bits of gear moving into the new year, so I appealed to Santa and was rewarded with a new iMac and five boxes of Paul C Buff lighting stuff. Here's me sitting in my (messy) office illuminated by a 22 inch beauty dish fitted with a 15 degree grid mounted on an Einstein 640 strobe. The grid does a fine job of tightly controlling the beam spread. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Entropy always increases
Saturday, January 20, 2018. COCI 2017/2018 r5 analysis. For the problem texts, see here. I found this contest easier than usual for a COCI. Given two wands A B and two boxes X Y, there is never any point in putting A in X and B in Y; if they fit, then they also fit the other way around. So sort the boxes and wands, match them up in this order and check if it all fits. Above one with a larger a, we can swap them without making either true. So we can assume that the false claims are increasing from bot...

No user-serviceable parts inside. Or outside, either. Saturday, October 17, 2015. Once upon a morning. I collaborate frequently with my friend Judi Willrich. Who not only does great makeup and hair but also shoots a mean Pentax K-3. Professionally she does headshots, portraits, boudoir and promo, especially for bands and musicians. About her I will say: if you haven't photographed Araina, you haven't photographed! I shot this entirely with my then brand new Pentax 645Z medium format digital camera. To cr...

Everyone’s an Artist. So the more I delve into the exciting and mysterious realm of freelancing, the more I discover that good, professional artist just get zero respect. Most of the time, folks are interesting in getting work done for next to nothing (usually equates to around $5 an hour) or on spec (meaning you get paid if they make money). I wonder if programmers get the same treatment or hell, plumbers? Http:/ www.youtube.com/watch? On a side note, anyone playing Mechwarrior Online. Been playing some...

Windows & Siding. Money Spent on Roof Replacement Worth Every Dime. Think of a leaky roof as one giant termite; it is determined to tear down your house one way or another. You just can’t keep patching it up; you have to step up to the plate and deal with it, kind of like staff members at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston. That’s no way to run a museum with priceless artifacts. That’s also no way to live. Period. Needless to say, the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum buckled under the criticism...
