Does what it says on the tin. The Current Crop of Smart Watches are Dead on Arrival. As smart phones become more prolific and revenues from new users decline as the market becomes saturated, the tech industry is desperately looking to be part of ‘the next big thing’. So far, these seem to fall in to two camps: wearables, and more recently, home automation. Alliances are starting to be formed and strategies starting to unfold, but it is very early days. What benefit do they really bring? To put it another...

Does what it says on the tin. Going back to an analog watch after Apple Watch. I wore my 42mm Apple Watch Space Grey Sports daily for about 6 months. I pre-ordered it the minute pre-orders came available and was very excited to receive it. I am an early adopter and a general fan of Apple design (although less of a fan of their software these days). I actually tried to reduce the gadgety look of the device by buying a 3rd party leather strap from Pad and Quill. This is the thing I didn’t anticipate ...
Apple | Thoughts on Tech

Does what it says on the tin. IPhone SE: The Perfect iPhone. I guess I’ve sort of ruined the typical surprise with that title haven’t I? It feels like what phones are best suited for. Unless I for some reason change my mind again, this will be the model I will follow the upgrade path for. Will just need to see whether Apple aligns updates to the SE with its flagship phones each year, or leave it for early the following year as they currently have done. Click to share on Google (Opens in new window).

Does what it says on the tin. An experiment in “doxing”. The Significance of Google Photos →. My take on the Apple Watch. I’ve owned a 42mm Space Grey Apple Watch Sport. For about 2.5 weeks and it is time to put some thoughts down into writing. I’m not really going to write a review; there are plenty already that explain what it does but that’s not my focus here. I guess what interests me is not the. A solution enhancing an existing fix, rather than solving a new problem. In fact, the why. But when put t...

The Prodigal Son: David 8. Alien Seed: Outland →. May 6, 2015 · 5:24 pm. Alien Isolation: Interview with Dion Lay and Will Porter. Warning: contains spoilers for the single player game. Six months after its release it can be unreservedly said that. Is, as we pointed out in our Thoughts on Alien: Isolation. Article, an invigorating and encouraging experience that recaptures the claustrophobia and fear of the original film and renews faith (or at least, my faith) in the franchise’s longterm prospects.

Geek Dad. Writer? I feel I should update or archive or something. If you read the archives on here (why would you do that? You will get a strangely incomplete picture of me, as my opinions on so many of the things I’ve written about have changed, though some haven’t.
