Coded Structure: The Dynamics of Catching Exceptions in Python
http://blog.codedstructure.net/2013/05/the-dynamics-of-catching-exceptions-in.html
Thoughts on programming, systems, structure and Truth. Thursday, 2 May 2013. The Dynamics of Catching Exceptions in Python. In which I discuss dynamism in catching exceptions - something which took me by surprise and could hide bugs - or enable fun. The following code - abstracted just slightly(! Note I'm using doctest to check this article - this is representative of a script doing real things! http://blog.codedstructure.net/2012/10/typing-to-yourself.html
Thoughts on programming, systems, structure and Truth. Thursday, 4 October 2012. I had an awesome time at PyConUK last weekend. I went to my first code dojo where I helped write a text-based adventure game (with a disturbing plot! Thoughts on programming, systems, structure and Truth. Monday, 18 July 2011. HTTP or it doesn't exist. This is my 'or it doesn't exist' blog post [1]. I think everyone should have one ;-). So when I hear that the information I need to process is in some spreadsheet or other on a Windows share, it makes me a little sad. When I hear that it is available via a sensible REST interface in a sensible format, my heart leaps for joy just a little. It is great. Compared to JSON-like representations, the abili...

Thoughts on programming, systems, structure and Truth. Saturday, 26 April 2014. Brotmap - precomputing the Mandelbrot set. I’ve not written a blog post for ages. Maybe sporadic posts are inevitable. Anyway, here’s one which has been sitting in draft form for a couple of years ago and I’ve just managed to drag it up-to-date. There are many others in all sorts of programming languages. Is a bit different - it’s thinking about the question “What if we pre-calculated. Its grand but insane idea is this:.

Moving printf into the modern age using C 17. Ever since c 11 introduce variadic templates, I started seeing people implement some "safe printf" examples. They are pretty cool, but none of them attempted to actually implement the printf fully with all of its quirks. Instead, they all pretty much do the same thing:. Use variadic templates to verify the sanity of the parameters. Delegate the actual formatting to the libc. I think we can do better. Well This Is Embarrassing (I Got Hacked).
