Fontan Recovery: Home | Live. Laugh. Learn.

http://blog.colinandjeanne.org/2014/05/12/fontan-recovery-home

Live Laugh. Learn. May 12, 2014. We are shouting it from the rooftops and the internets: Maddie is coming home today! I wish I could say that she is tube-free but instead I’ll just be grateful that she’ll be eating dinner with us, sleeping in her own bed, and hugging her brothers tonight. All of your prayers, all of your kind words and deeds, all of your tireless support have led us here. My heart is full to bursting with gratitude. Welcome home, Maddie Girl! Fontan Recovery: Day 7. You are so amazing!

Fontan Recovery: Day 1 | Live. Laugh. Learn.

http://blog.colinandjeanne.org/2014/04/04/fontan-recovery-day-1

Live Laugh. Learn. Fontan Recovery: Day 1. April 4, 2014. It was late by the time we finally got to join her in the ICU last night, but what an amazing sight she was to see. I apologize to those of you who are sensitive to graphic medical images but I need to post this picture. It shows just how strong this little girl is. Plus, Maddie is super fascinated looking at the one from her last surgery. I know that she’ll be proud of this one, as well. Maddie made the goal! Unlike last time with her Glen. We co...

Transplant Has Started | Live. Laugh. Learn.

http://blog.colinandjeanne.org/2014/12/26/transplant-has-started

Live Laugh. Learn. December 26, 2014. PHOTO CREDIT: Tami Cutler Photography. The Cardiac Team called from the Operating Room. The transplant surgery has begun. Her complicated anatomy will make this already detailed procedure especially labor-intensive and difficult. We expect it to last as long as 6 hours, probably more. We are breathing. In and out. It’s one moment at at time now. Our prayers are heard. We know that. Again, thank you all for your support. Your faith strengthens ours. Reflections on our...

http://blog.colinandjeanne.org/2014/12/27/transplant-recovery-day-1

Live Laugh. Learn. Transplant Recovery: Day 1. December 27, 2014. The surgery went well. Better than expected, actually. What we were dreading would be a complicated transplant with excessive bleeding was straightforward and relatively smooth. From the first incision at 5:10PM to when they closed her up at 1AM, everything went as planned. Another incredible blessing to witness. Please excuse the graphic picture but this is Maddie, full of fight and always, always amazing us. But we have just begun on thi...

adoption | Live. Laugh. Learn.

http://blog.colinandjeanne.org/adoption-how-our-family-grows

Live Laugh. Learn. The subject of adoption is near and dear to our hearts. It’s the way we grow our family. Though an oftentimes painful and stressful process, we wouldn’t change our experience or the lessons we’ve learned for anything. Our first adoption took place through our church. 8216;s social services program, LDS Family Services. This liaison organization helps families wade through the quagmire. 8212; it was clear she needed a stable home with two parents to care for her many needs. Though i...

100 Things to Do In DC. Monday, February 11, 2013. Colette at 8 Months. Colette is such a peach. I love her to pieces and it is so fun to see her grow. She learned to crawl this week (she's 8 and a half months) and the world has opened up to her. She doesn't need me to hold her as much because she can get herself around. She prefers to feed herself and will try just about anything. Her favorites are bread, cheese and squash. I can't believe she is already 8 months. Time is going by so fast. Calder and hi...

Live Laugh. Love. Sunday, February 26, 2012. Taiwan Day 2 - Funeral. They had everything you could possibly want both "western" and Asian. But since we really only had 5 minutes to eat. We quickly ran through the line, stuffed our mouths full of food, then ran back down to the lobby to catch our taxi. It goes up to 213 mph! It was so amazingly fast! Can you believe it? Tuesday, February 21, 2012. We arrived, they fed us breakfast and helped us get settled. Ron and I had planned on going to the Taipei tem...

Live Laugh. Love. Monday, January 30, 2012. Tuesday, January 24, 2012. Arya turned 4 on the 15th of this month. I know we all say this, but I really can't believe how fast time has flown by! It snowed four years ago when she was born; not a lot, but enough to make the world beautiful. This year, Heavenly Father gave her the gift of snow and LOTS of it! Coming down our home-made sled run. More pictures to come! Friday, January 20, 2012. Very fun idea so thank you pinterest! Monday, January 9, 2012. Luke g...

Seth, Jenae, Eli, and Quinn. Tales of the professor, the photographer, the astronaut, and the little bird. Saturday, February 28, 2015. I keep a running list of funny things my family says. Here's a glimpse of what made me laugh in the last half of 2014. Missed the first half? And laugh all over again about how Eli thought he had crabs. After Seth took the parent handle off Eli's "bike" tricycle, Eli had a major melt down. Coming down after time out he said. E: Are my noodles ready? But momma, I HAVE to ...

Seth, Jenae, Eli, and Quinn. Tales of the professor, the photographer, the astronaut, and the little bird. Monday, March 30, 2015. Miss Quinn has started reaching out and playing with toys. How is this possible? It makes her look so big and old. She particularly likes Jiggle Frog. Guess it’s time I bust out the baby toys. She likes laying on her play mat and batting at the dangling toys. She has found her hands and loves sucking on them. Two at once? Folks, we had a healthy March! She sleeps. Like th...

We're High on LIFE. Tuesday, September 8, 2009. It seems as flu season nears the media won't stop talking about Swine Flu. Wash your hands people, and STAY HOME if you have symptoms! About 80% of American casualties in WWI, came from the flu. Yes, very shocking, but here is the exerpt that made me feel so blessed to live in these times:. Ewwww Those poor prisoners! What is ridiculous is that NONE of them got the flu! The only one who got sick was the ward doctor, who then died! E is for Elton. Save the D...

Our Little Garden: March 2012

http://mortensenmemoir.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html

The Adventures of Christian, Lisa, Dalton, Nicole, Enoch and Joel. Saturday, March 17, 2012. After feeding the Enoch and Joel, I looked down to see Enoch with a huge smile on his face because he had stuck his thumb in Joel's mouth and Joel was just sucking away. One of my favorite things about having twins is to watch them talk to each other after they nurse. They are so happy when they get to be together! Friday, March 16, 2012. I love that a simple tent can make old toys seem like new. One more good one.

Seth, Jenae, Eli, and Quinn. Tales of the professor, the photographer, the astronaut, and the little bird. Friday, April 24, 2015. All of a sudden she looks so big. Little Miss has started rolling. She doesn’t do it a ton but the skill is there. No more leaving her precariously on the bed or changing table. Not that I would do that…. Oh man, that’s right. Still. Sleeping. We thank her every day. Goes down around 9 or 10 and up at 7. I love her the most. In the evening we&#82...She doesn’t make a lo...
