The locus of cool. The Dave Blog ». Building a Story: Walt Disney’s Cinderella. Birdman, or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) ». December 1, 2013. Originally written in 1973-1974 and published by Zebra Books in 1978, is going to be reissued by Wildside Press/Borgo Press next year, I hope, but relatively soon, in any event. I’ve scanned in the text all 93,000 words of it and am now revising the novel. I have several reasons for doing so. A lot of Howard, obviously, in Oron. Or Prince of Foxes. Had gone...

Dispatches From the Last Outlaw: The Lost Island by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child
http://tommcnulty.blogspot.com/2015/08/the-lost-island-by-douglas-preston-and.html
Monday, August 10, 2015. The Lost Island by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child. Gideon Crew is the second series character from Preston and Child, and this is the third book in the series. I thought the first book, Gideon’s Sword. And guess what – wow! 8211; this book is a taut hardboiled and suspenseful book. It’s clearly the best Gideon Crew novel and undoubtedly one of the best thrillers from this dynamic duo of modern crime classics. The Lost Island. And The Lost World. By Arthur Conan Doyle, Gideon C...
Dispatches From the Last Outlaw: May 2015

Wednesday, May 27, 2015. Outlaw World by Edmond Hamilton. I love the smell of old paperbacks. They smell like adventure. This 70s era paperback from Popular Library had a great title and a great cover painting. The novel is a reprint of a 1945 Captain Future story from a pulp magazine. Captain Future was created by editor Mort Weisinger who hired Edmond Hamilton to write most of the stories. Weisinger and Hamilton would work together again at DC Comics where Hamilton wrote Superman. But I’ve never ...

Friday, March 27, 2015. Complex 90 by Mickey Spillane and Max Allan Collins. Is a direct sequel to The Girl Hunters. Is it vengeance for taking down so many commies in the early fifties, or is it something else? Rates high on my list of favorite books this year. Kudos as well to Titan books for producing paperbacks with a retro cover style in the smaller pocket book format. Mike Hammer is one of the literary greats alongside Sherlock Holmes, Sam Spade, Philip Marlowe, and James Bond. May his ...All of th...
Dispatches From the Last Outlaw: Mahars of Pellucidar by John Eric Holmes
http://tommcnulty.blogspot.com/2015/07/mahars-of-pellucidar-by-john-eric-holmes.html
Friday, July 31, 2015. Mahars of Pellucidar by John Eric Holmes. I bought this 1976 paperback because I liked the naked woman on the cover being attacked by a giant squid. Somehow it may have vaguely registered with me that Pellucidar was the world Edgar Rice Burroughs created in his novels At The Earth's Core. And its sequel, Pellucidar. That chick was awesome. Mahars of Pellucidar. Covers familiar territory. Wild creatures, savages, and rugged terrain all put Christopher West to a test of endurance...

Friday, October 31, 2014. Zombie Halloween by R. L. Stine. Is especially cool. This new kid in town, Kenny Manzetti, has moved into an old house to help his grandfather. When a new family moves in next door he notices their choice of furniture is a bit odd. You see, Kenny notices the movers have brought three coffins into the house – three coffins! Naturally, some investigation is required. Stine has never lost his touch at making ghoulish scenes fun for young readers. Zombie Halloween. There is clearly ...

Saturday, August 8, 2015. Mystery at Redtop Hill by Marjory Schwalje. Is a simple and enjoyable summer reading story with a great deal of charm. This is what I think:. When copying business tactics, check the timestamp. Entrepreneurs make a common mistake—using the tactics of a successful product in the context of a fledgling one. Here's why that doesn't work. ⇒. Smite the sounding furrows. Why there are no comments on this site. ⇒. To create a street art piece for the launch of the "Red Pill" slam poetry night in this year's Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival. For the piece I wanted to communicate that 'slam poetry' uses words to convey a message that is more potent than the poet themselves. I felt a Luchador would be perfect for this. I was commissioned by Down Community Arts.

David Deak's Blog. Race Report: Ironman Mont Tremblant 2013. November 23rd, 2013. It was such a joy to train and race alongside family. My brother chose this race as his first Ironman, and my cousin Rob signed up after being a ‘retired’ Ironman triathlete for over 6 years (around the time I started triathlon). My uncle signed up as well. Though, unfortunately, he had to pull out just weeks from the race, due to illness – such bad timing! Lac Tremblant – the venue of the swim.
