http://inthesixthmonth.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Writing with the wind. Songs, essays, stories, and other writings. All shall be well again, I know". Julian of Norwich (c. 1342-c. 1416) was an English anchoress, living in a cell next to a church building and giving spiritual counsel to people. She lived during a time ravaged by war, economic distress, and the Plague. She fell gravely ill and had a series of visions of Jesus, which she eventually wrote about and published. Loud are the bells of Norwich. And the people come and go. Is Lord of all I know.

During Tuesday evening services on Iona, volunteers who are leaving later that week are sent off and blessed. On my final Tuesday evening service, the scripture passage was Philippians 4:4-9:. Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Bluebells, daisies, and sycamore trees on Iona. I've written a short song based on these words.

Vicar of H Street: Life Cycles
http://vicarofhstreet.blogspot.com/2015/02/life-cycles.html
Thursday, February 19, 2015. In seminary, I took a class called "Spiritual or Religious? With the ever-fabulous Lisa Kimball. We discussed sociological trends away from organized religion, but also how spirituality and religion is not going away, either. In this class, we talked a lot about what a mature faith looks like in a world increasingly comfortable with no religious affiliation at all. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). The Pirate Way: You don’t listen to me!
http://thepirateway-bob.blogspot.com/2012/05/you-dont-listen-to-me.html
Sunday, May 27, 2012. You don’t listen to me! In an age of tweets and twitter, the ability to listen; I mean to really listen, has taken a hit. There are a thousand and one ways to get our message out, and yet we long for that simple person to person connection. On any given Sunday, in churches all across the Inland Empire, the pews are filled with lonely people, longing for community. And a good place to start is with the 5. Habit of Stephen Coveys. By switching it around and Understanding first. We ope...

Writing with the wind: Short song: "Wake up, O sleeper"
http://inthesixthmonth.blogspot.com/2015/08/short-song-wake-up-o-sleeper.html
Writing with the wind. Songs, essays, stories, and other writings. Short song: "Wake up, O sleeper". A couple weeks ago I came across the following passage in Ephesians 5:14:. Wake up, O sleeper,. Rise from the dead,. And Christ will shine on you. The message continues to stir me. Apparently these could have been the lyrics to a hymn sung by early Christians. I've written a short song based on the words. To hear a MIDI version of the song. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.

Writing with the wind: Sermon: "I Worship the LORD"
http://inthesixthmonth.blogspot.com/2015/07/sermon-i-worship-lord.html
Writing with the wind. Songs, essays, stories, and other writings. Sermon: "I Worship the LORD". In the summer of 2013, I went on a trip to study worship and Christianity in the UK. My class was required to create a worship-related project, and mine included two sermons from the book of Jonah. Here is my first sermon, "I Worship the LORD.". There are many ways to worship God, but some ways are better than others. Where do you come from? What is your country? And of what people are you? It is not only int...

Writing with the wind: Whatever you do in word. . .
http://inthesixthmonth.blogspot.com/2015/07/whatever-you-do-in-word.html
Writing with the wind. Songs, essays, stories, and other writings. Whatever you do in word. . . However, in Colossians 3:17, Paul includes communicating with words as one of the things we do, suggesting that expressing words is. An action. After all, did not God create all things through speaking, through the Word? What does it mean to communicate with words in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the father through him? How integrated are my words with the rest of my life?
