What do we mean when we say Certified Organic? Certified organic farmers must produce their crops in an economically and environmentally sound process. Once they have this process in place, they must ensure their land and harvested crops are not contaminated from non-organic material. Sources of such material can include pesticide and herbicide drift or water run off from neighboring farms. Genesis Growers was certified by Ecocert Indiana Certified Organic. It took us over 5 years to complete the process.

This practice started 30 years ago in Japan and spread to Europe. In 1985 the first CSA was formed in the United States. Locally grown produce. Is naturally more nutritious and tasty than what is commonly available in a supermarket. Instead of being flown and trucked in from another part of the country, or the world, food is grown a few hours from the consumer, picked at it’s peak of flavor, and delivered within 24 hours. How the Genesis Growers CSA works. LOCALLY GROWN WITH LOVE AND DEDICATION.

Muddle a Mint Sprig. A journey through the American cookbook. Saturday, February 12, 2011. Valentine's Day: German fest. The last few years, I've done an ethnic-themed Valentine's Day dinner for me and Dave. Last year was Turkish. The year before was French. And the year before that was Greek. (Sorry, no blog back then.) This year I decided to take a trip down memory lane with German. I was undecided until I saw this article. For accompaniment ideas. (Thanks, Julie! Now let's go through what I made.

Muddle a Mint Sprig. A journey through the American cookbook. Wednesday, May 15, 2013. Mediterranean mac and cheese. The Chicago Tribune published a couple of mac and cheese recipes about two months ago, and I am just now getting to cooking them. (Yes, I know the weather is warm, who cares, the mac and cheese was delicious.). First up, Mediterranean mac and cheese. Heat the milk in a sauce pan to prepare for the roux, and also bake the garlic. Throw everything into the roux. Bake. Venison Schnitzel, Spae...

Muddle a Mint Sprig. A journey through the American cookbook. Saturday, September 26, 2009. Chicken, couscous, and tarts - oh my! I am still really excited about French food since our recent visit to Paris, so I made a three-course dinner of delicious French dishes for our friends Tiffany and Nick. Ina's always calling for it in her ...

Muddle a Mint Sprig: Let it rest: maple pork loin
http://mintsprig.blogspot.com/2015/06/let-it-rest-maple-pork-loin.html
Muddle a Mint Sprig. A journey through the American cookbook. Saturday, June 20, 2015. Let it rest: maple pork loin. The quest for food knowledge continues with a delicious hunk of meat! Concept 3: Resting meat maximizes juiciness. Recipe: Maple-glazed pork roast. The perfect resting times for meat are at least five minutes and as many as 30 or 40 minutes, so it's really important to set some time aside for this. First, you tie up the roast and sear it on the stove top:. I've got a 5K tomorrow, so I need...

Muddle a Mint Sprig: Wonton-tastic
http://mintsprig.blogspot.com/2008/09/wonton-tastic.html
Muddle a Mint Sprig. A journey through the American cookbook. Saturday, September 13, 2008. Today we have another winner. The Light the Night Walk was pretty much rained out. So Dave and I stayed in with Diane and Rob and made some Better Homes and Gardens recipes: Cheese-Wine Log and Chicken and Crab Wontons. It looks like a strange furry little thing, but it was good, trust me. First you chop and sautee all those ingredients together. Then you let it cool a little bit and start making little wonton...
