Building things and sounds. Wednesday, January 14, 2015. Software Developers Are Like Cats. Software developers are like cats. The like to sit on high perches and look down at you. They'll all gather together, in a hurry, when you have food. Corollary: when you have food, they love you. When you don't, you're just a nuisance to them. They like to play with something until the thing breaks, and then move on to find something new to play with and leave the thing they broke for someone else to clean up.

Watch This Space: Featured at Prog-Sphere's "Progstravaganza" compilation

http://blog.jasonrubenstein.com/2014/04/featured-at-prog-spheres.html

Building things and sounds. Sunday, April 20, 2014. Featured at Prog-Sphere's "Progstravaganza" compilation. This is pretty cool. I've been featured over at prograstravaganza.com. As I have a track that's been included on their XVIII'th compilation. Their previous compilations are excellent. They're digital albums of some of the best progressive rock, progressive metal, and progressive jazz in the world. I'm thrilled to be a part of it, and honored to be alongside these excellent musicians.

The new compilation of progressive rock and metal bands and musicians, from around the world, has just been released. " Transforma. My song "The Blow Off" is the opening track! I'm honored, gang. And thrilled to be included among these bands, who are very, very good. Seriously, the curation of this series is excellent. I'm not kidding when I say I'm honored, and excited, to have been included.

Watch This Space: How The Black Cloud Works

http://blog.jasonrubenstein.com/2014/08/how-black-cloud-works.html

Building things and sounds. Tuesday, August 12, 2014. How The Black Cloud Works. I've lost a few friends to The Black Cloud. Several more of my friends are currently involved with The Black Cloud, against their consent (though they're fighting it). The Black Cloud is a sneaky bastard. It is insidious. In·sid·i·ous. Causing harm in a way that is gradual or not easily noticed. A : awaiting a chance to entrap : treacherous. B : harmful but enticing : seductive. Here's one way the Black Cloud works. The Blac...

Jason Raven

October 28, 2014. 0160;Today, John Henry Raven, was laid to rest. I was honored to write most of my grandfathers obituary. But Id also like to share some of my personal memories of Jack Raven. My home for my first three years was an apartment attached to Ravens Lunch. That apartment is gone, but Grampie lived in the house that is still attached to Food Stop today. To get from the store to the apartment, we cut through the room off the main store where Gramps kept his beagle, Duke, tied up. He loved the R...

Musings on fiction writing, cycling, and software. Wednesday, February 13, 2013. Worst Day of the Year Ride. With a name like that, how can you not love it? The Worst Day of the Year Ride. I haven't dressed up, but I've ridden the 45-mile challenge course twice now. Both times, contrary to the name, the weather has been spectacular- cool but dry, bright winter sunshine. Cross over the St. Johns Bridge and then mosey back into town. There is a shorter, urban course (around 15 miles or so), part of which o...

Lunch – Smoked Wings. 10 June, 2015. I sauced them with a mixture of 1/2c Frank’s Hot Wing Sauce. And 1/3c wildflower honey. I think next time, I might do less of the wing sauce. Maybe a 50/50 split to tone down some of the heat. They were fantastic. Wings, rubbed and smoked for an hour over hickory at 350F. Sauced with a mix of Frank’s Hot Wing Sauce and Honey.
