Photography from the Bluebird Man. At 10:04 PM under Flowers. I ventured outside today and strolled by the flower garden. This is only five days after Ground Hog day. To my amazement there in the weeds and grass left over from last fall was this beautiful SnowDrop. I hastely removed most of the unwanted vegetation and broke out the camera. What will be next? Photography from the Bluebird Man. Archive for the 'Flowers' Category. A few stalks of Gloriosa Daisy fell over from weight and laid prone on the ground. Days later I noticed the blossoms had turned skyward. These flowers are related to sunflowers which we know follow the sun as it arcs from horizon to horizon. My interest in photography goes all the way back to junior high school. Yes, they had cameras back then! I learned the old school way, shooting with film, processing my own negatives and printing from those negatives. My Dad had a dark room in our house and we would buy film on 100 foot rolls and roll it on to individual canisters. Warm weather melted all of the snow in the yard except for this drift next to the house. The center melted away exposing this rodent nest. Photography from the Bluebird Man. At 8:41 PM under Birds. This morning I looked out of the kitchen window and was surprized to see this infrequent visitor. This is a Varied Thrush. Arthur Cleveland Bent in his “Life Histories of North American Thrushes, Kinglets, and their Allies” recounts an incident in October 1906 when there were hundreds of Varied Thrush flying high overhead migrating south for the winter. Many present day birders would pay a premium to witness such a sight. One response so far.
