Hamachi Goodness
http://blog.jonathanoliver.com/hamachi-goodness
All in all, I am very pleased with the solution. It was simple and created a secure tunnel through the Internet without any fuss. The best part is all of the traffic is direct/P2P which means there’s no proxying through LogMeIn servers which means that we don’t have to worry about bandwidth/latency issues. At some point, if we decide to go with the paid solution, it’s only $20/server/year a very reasonable price for such a capable solution. Comments powered by Disqus. Proudly published with Ghost.
Why I Left Windows
http://blog.jonathanoliver.com/why-i-left-windows
Why I Left Windows. As a development environment and a server environment Windows makes less and less sense. It's not that I don't like Windows. It's actually really good operating system for a lot of people and is getting arguably more secure from attacks. My problem is that it continues to get in my way and limit me in ways that hamper and impede progress. On the server side running in the cloud, when spinning up an EC2 cloud box with Windows, you really can't get away with anything less than 3.75G...
Why I Love Go
http://blog.jonathanoliver.com/why-i-love-go
Why I Love Go. I have been in the process of migrating off of Windows and the .NET Framework for a little while now. The process is still underway, but is going very smoothly. To understand the need for a platform migration, there are two things to understand:. First, why change the development environments and application platform at all? And second, what platform/language should we choose? The first point is beyond the scope of this post and will be covered in more detail at a later date. After decidin...
Celebrating the Death of Comcast: The Case for Net Neutrality
http://blog.jonathanoliver.com/celebrating-the-death-of-comcast-net
Celebrating the Death of Comcast: The Case for Net Neutrality. Before long there came the video megastore: Blockbuster. But Blockbuster was a poor steward and betrayed our trust by charging outrageous fees for returning a video late. It hurt, but that was life. In the United States has a paying Netflix account. With so many households consuming movies, where is Blockbuster? No We hated Blockbuster because they saw us as objects to be exploited. And we're glad RedBox took their place. However, within thes...
Golang Has Generics—Why I Don't Miss Generics Anymore
http://blog.jonathanoliver.com/golang-has-generics
Golang Has Generics Why I Don't Miss Generics Anymore. There's a lot of discussion about generics in Go. In fact, it's one of the most-requested features in the language discussion groups. The language designers aren't against generics, but they have not found or seen a good proposal that allows generics in the language without significantly complicating the language and implementation. That being said, Go has generics. Think about it. What is the primary use case for generics? Etc is created, we can ope...

Nota Bene .Net: ноября 2012
http://solyutor.blogspot.com/2012_11_01_archive.html
Nota Bene .Net. Открываю Америку в .NET. Четверг, 22 ноября 2012 г. CardFlow.

Just a personal weblog for my own amusement. Sainsbury’s Razor vs Gillette. February 19, 2018. Side-by-side the razors look similar, with a rubber strip along the bottom and a moisturising strip across the top, and a metallic strip down each side; the main differences are six slightly thinner blades in the Sainsbury’s vs five slightly wider spaced blades in the Gillette, and the FlexBall in the Gillette. Both have head tilt and a cartridge quick-release button. Perhaps. Worth paying extra for? I will now...
