Friday, December 19, 2014. DottieD. And congrats. Someone contacted me recently about resizing a poncho - I can't for the life of me find the message. If you're still looking for help with this, contact the amazing Dottie Daiker. She is available to resize patterns, turn a chart into a written pattern, and do a host of other knitting feats. She's in my bimonthly knitting group and is a wonder to behold. I wholeheartedly recommend her! I can't wait to see what Sharon makes from this great book.
Knitting at Large: Tremendous Tempest
http://blog.knittingatlarge.com/2014/11/hello-old-friends.html
Saturday, November 1, 2014. Hello, old friends. I'm writing today about Tempest, a lovely new book by Canadian designer, Holli Yeoh. Her creations feature the always stunning Sweet Georgia Yarns - honestly, I have never seen a Sweet Georgia Yarn color I didn't like. If you're not familiar with Holli and Sweet Georgia, I'm happy to introduce you. Sweet Georgia Yarns simply sing. I could dig around for a more spectacular way to say it, but in this case, a picture truly speaks a thousands words. A lightweig...

A new week, a new season ought to be marked by something new and after all the kiddie things, I needed a little something for me. There will be more kiddie things later. My good friend brought me this yarn back from a trip to Halifax. Its a Fleece Artist BFL 2/8 which is just about my favourite yarn.*. Since I started placing a marker right at...

Monday, January 10, 2011. Happiness Project, Monday of Week 2. Well, it was a Monday today, but not a bad Monday. We had our Kindergartener's in the Computer Lab and I got quite a bit more benchmark testing done. I went grocery shopping after work, picked up a prescription, unloaded groceries and put them away, made a meatloaf and baked potato dinner and changed out the dishwasher. This is what I've been knitting on this evening. The motivational quote of the day:. 65279; This quote speaks to me because ...
Pinehaven Hill: Tribute to Grandpa
http://pinehavenhill.blogspot.com/2011/09/tribute-to-grandpa.html
Friday, September 9, 2011. This is my grandfather. Today was his birthday. He would have been 102. He passed away 7 years ago this December. I was very fortunate to have him in my life as long as I did. He is the great-grandparent that my children remember the best. This picture was taken on the day he started working at his dream job, Postmaster in our town. He was so proud! While he was Postmaster, he worked hard with "the Politicians" to double the size of our post office and make it accessible to all.

Intellectual activity should be guided by the supreme art of life, that of doing good to other people rather than being great oneself; and the source of this art must be looked for in those feelings and impulses which give elevation to a manâ s character, make him wise and good, and kindle in him a love for everything that is fine and true. Knitting at Large
Saturday, May 2, 2015. Two knitting books probably not large enough for amples. Hello, my ample friends. Today I'm going to tell you about two books that may not have a sweater large enough to fit your fluffy frame - we've been down this road before, haven't we? That's the way of the world, I guess. I still think if 60 percent of Americans are overweight or obese that 60 percent of the knitting patterns should be sized for them, too. But, alas. First up - Amy Herzog's latest offering, Knit Wear Love.

Sunday, April 26, 2015. I still have to watch seasons 7, 8, 13-15). So I've had a lot of knitting time. Since that time I've come to find out that my son's teacher is expecting a baby in July. Of course I had to make something. I had 2 halfway completed baby blankets that I thought I could complete easily enough but I decided they weren't nice enough and/or were too heavy for a summer baby. So I started over. Finally, after a month of work, I've completed my baby blanket! Posted by Elspeth at 6:21 PM.
