Building In Tree Kernel Modules Out of Tree - Bootloader Blog

https://blog.kylemanna.com/linux/2015/05/20/building-in-tree-kernel-modules-out-of-tree

Entrepreneur and chip whisperer. Building In Tree Kernel Modules Out of Tree. Don’t Rebuild the Entire Kernel. I wanted to enable some extra features in my Arch Linux kernel (SocketCAN in particular) but didn’t want to build, and more importantly, maintain my own custom kernel build. This should be this hard, I’m sure someone has already done this or wrote an article about it. Want It Done Right? I wouldn’t have to maintain my own kernel, just setup a Dynamic Kernel Module Support (DKMS). May 20, 2015.

Docker + systemd-network Surprise - Bootloader Blog

https://blog.kylemanna.com/linux/2015/07/11/docker--systemd-network-surprise

Entrepreneur and chip whisperer. How’d We Get Here? Started off simple: Migrate my DigitalOcean. Ubuntu droplet (RIP upstart disaster) to Arch Linux. Seemed simple enough after I found the digitalocean-debian-to-arch. Repository. The Debian 8.1 to Arch script worked seamless and even setup. For me. Nice, been looking for an excuse to play with. Turn For the Worst. Except it seems that. Options built in to. The result: Docker turns on IP forwarding and masquerade, and. Suggesting it was never tested.

New Toy: USB Microscope - Bootloader Blog

https://blog.kylemanna.com/hardware/2015/03/28/new-toy-usb-microscope

Entrepreneur and chip whisperer. New Toy: USB Microscope. Picked up a cheap $15 USB microscope from AliExpress. The posting claimed it would do 5MP. I was skeptical (i.e. USB 2.0 bandwidth constraint) and figured it would realistically do 1600x1200 resolution or 2MP. The bad part is that it only appears to do 320x240 and 640x480 or 0.3MP. What? Well, the seller is getting a bad rating on Alibaba should there not be some way to get to at least 2MP. I dumped the USB descriptors in GitHub Gist.

SSH Reverse Tunnel on Linux with systemd

https://blog.kylemanna.com/linux/2014/02/20/ssh-reverse-tunnel-on-linux-with-systemd

SSH Reverse Tunnel on Linux with systemd. This aims to do all the same things my SSH Reverse Tunnel on Mac OS X. Blog, except this is for Linux systems running systemd. Systemd as a process monitor makes an awesome way to implement the phone home ssh service. I’m going to skip most of the details and justification for doing this and instead defer interested readers to my previous blog entry. All the steps are the same, except nowadays I’d recommend generating a ECDSA. To do this, a system service file is...

January 7, 2018. The Rust project is soliciting wishlists for 2018. Rather than list big things that everybody wants like NLL or a more stable tokio, I’m going to list some things that I think are small and could be knocked out in relatively short order. Rust has a ` std: intrinsics: prefetch read data. The DWARF generated by rustc is pretty bad and I think there’s a lot of easy wins here. Const/mut should be noted in the generated DWARF (see issue 32921). Tom Tromey is already working on enums so yay!
