Return to lizbanfield.com. Wednesday, January 30, 2013. This month I have been guest blogging on Lynn Butler's color-themed blog Little Blue Dish. Today I mused on a gorgeous Valentine's Day theme wedding. In San Francisco. Revisiting these photos was a reminder how much I love the little things the personalize the event. For all its exuberance, one of my favorite details was this vintage handkerchief that the bride had embroidered with little red hearts. What a sweet touch. Monday, January 7, 2013.

May 8th, 2012. In April, I took a long weekend to visit Washington and Old Alexandria. The first night, we stayed in the heart of old Washington in the Embassy Row hotel. Right off Dupont Circle. We took in Georgetown of course, and then headed out to the Marriott. Near trendy King Street. In Old Town, Alexandria VA. We really enjoyed how good and surprisingly affordable the food scene is in the area overall, and had some terrific meals at restaurants including Vermillion. An Italian bistro, Prime Rib.

Hello I finally nailed a proper blog together. I’ll warn you now it’s fairly geeky but hopefully reads less like an instruction manual than the previous attempt. Speaking of previous attempts, the sandbox is still up. Amazingly some people are actually reading it so I’ve left it alone. Anyway, for what it’s worth, here’s some stuff what I wrote. All Your Base 2013. Experiments with Elasticsearch - part 1. Studying with the Open University. All Your Base 2012. A Few Thoughts on Tablets.

Playing with Negative Space
Playing with Negative Space. To err is human, and definitely not just feminist. I am a feminist. I am also human, and with humanity, another core part of my identity, comes shortcomings and failure. When I inevitably mess up, it's because like you, I am human - don't blame feminism. Dresses, “dressing up”, and the software industry. A few days ago, Lea Coligado, a junior at Stanford, wrote about some of the sexism she's experienced in computer science. Both my friends and Lea are dressed up because they ...
