All things I/O | thoughts on code

Move code out of Django templates. As a general rule when working in Django, code run on the database is faster than code run in the view which is faster than code run in the template. With this in mind, you can move some logic from your templates into your view by breaking the template up into smaller parts and building it later. In certain circumstances, this can also reduce the number of steps taken to achieve the same result. Html - for message in messages # do stuff # more html. Def view messages(re...

Communicating with Azure through the REST API using Python. Windows Azure provides a great Azure SDK. For Python. For most cases, this SDK is able to do everything you will need to interact with Azure storage. 99% of what you will be doing is creating, listing, deleting, and managing permissions of blobs, all of which are supported by the SDK. Into the devtools console. What’s that, you ask? Why use a 5-year old service version by default? You’ll have to ask Microsoft. A very important page as every sing...

Ubuntu | All things I/O

One of the projects I worked on is built on Windows Azure. To help manage user sessions, with a write-through caching system. One morning I woke up and started to do some testing, only to find that every time I logged in, I was redirected back to the home page – not the ‘incorrect username/password’ page. No errors in the browser. No errors on the server. No idea what was happening. If you’re running Ubuntu, you can set this up by executing crontab -e. This entry was posted in Back-end. Overlay { position: fixed; top: 0; bottom: 0; left: 0; right: 0; background: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.5); z-index: 5; }. This works perfectly when you want to dim out the main content on the page and highlight a shadowbox placed on top of the dimmed content. But what about when you want to dim out all of the main content on a page except for one part in order to highlight the content itself? April 9, 2014. JQuery&#...

Posted some new work on my website! 8220;Of all God’s gift to the sight of man, colour is the holiest, the most divine, the most solemn. We speak rashly of gay colour and sad colour, for colour cannot at once be good and gay. All good colour is in some degree pensive, the loveliest is melancholy, and purest and most thoughtful minds are those which love color the most.”. 3:49 pm 4 notes. 3:49 pm 11 notes.
