I keep asking myself why I have a blog. . . . Monday, June 2, 2014. Philosophy of Biology at Madison. Third time's a charm! After two previous attempts to get on the program at POBAM. I finally made it for a development of the presentation I made at the Paris workshop. As with the previous workshops, this was a really high quality affair. Many kudos and thanks to the organizers. It was great to see a lot of old friends and meet some new folks. Posted in a few months. They're heavy, but pretty amazing....

Slater Reports: Natural Kinds and Causation in Paris

http://blog.mhslater.com/2014/03/natural-kinds-and-causation-in-paris.html

I keep asking myself why I have a blog. . . . Monday, March 24, 2014. Natural Kinds and Causation in Paris. It was lovely to be invited to a workshop on the Metaphysics of Science: Causation and Natural Kinds. Put on by the Institut d'Histoire et de Philosophie des Sciences et des Techniques (IHPST). In Paris. It was a very congenial group and lots of interesting talks — and of course Paris is quite a nice place to be for a few days. This was the view outside my (tiny) hotel room. What's All This, Then?

I keep asking myself why I have a blog. . . . Tuesday, October 22, 2013. I was fortunate enough to be in on the ground floor of the new Discovery Residential College. Residential Colleges. Particularly from a historical perspective. Here (above) are some of us at the Carnegie Natural History Museum in Pittsburgh groping a T. rex. Femur (or was it a diplodocus? Slater Reports: November 2013

http://blog.mhslater.com/2013_11_01_archive.html

I keep asking myself why I have a blog. . . . Monday, November 4, 2013. My first monograph, Are Species Real. Has been published. I have physical copies. It all looks very smartly put together. (I detected no typos! I do wish it was cheaper, though. . . . Amazon.com. Seems to have the best price. Strangely, there are already some used copies — some going for more than retail. Can someone explain to me what's going on with that? In any case, you can find more information about the book on my website.
