How Complex Systems Fail

https://blog.michaelwittig.info/how-complex-systems-fail

How Complex Systems Fail. Sent me an interesting article. Related to my post Systemantics - How Systems works and especially how they fail. The article "How Complex Systems Fail" makes 18 points on why we still struggle to create stable systems. A few years ago - I was studying at Zeppelin University. I was introduced to the ideas of Niklas Luhmann. Is there something like trust in software systems? Comments powered by Disqus. Comments powered by Disqus. Cloud architect and software developer.

Show your SaaS architecture: TimeSeries.Guru. Today I want to show you the architecture of my project: Software-as-a-Service time series database with REST API. TimeSeries.Guru is a TSDB build to handle large volumes of time series data. The Saas is powered by the high-performance database kdb from Kx Systems that sets the standard for time-series analytics. kdb makes use of a proprietary array processing language called Q. The diagram was created with Cloudcraft. Which implements the q ipc protocol.

Systemantics

A feew weeks before @werner. Mentioned an interesting book "Systemantics: how systems work and especially how they fail" by John Gall. The book seems to be out of print but I found a used copy on Amazon. The main point of the book is: Systems in general work poorly or not at all. Avoid building systems if you can! There is one example in the book that demonstrates the theory quiet good: how can a community deal with garbage. Comments powered by Disqus. Comments powered by Disqus.

Aggregating your calendars with Sunrise. I ran into the problem that I got lost in between all my calendars. I have some obvious calendars like Google Calendars. And Office 365. But then there are many others like: Basecamp. Can combine them all (any many others) into one single app availably for browser, iOS, OS X and Android. Comments powered by Disqus. When I do get caught up, I’m going to try and take photos that are more interesting and write posts that are more than “captain’s logs.” Went and played tennis tonight with my bro for the first time in a really long time. Was freezing outside on the courts. Laquo; Kathmandu Kitchen.

Tales of a Rambling Rover

Tales of a Rambling Rover. By Michael Zlatkovsky (michael.zlat@gmail.com). Friday, August 14, 2015. Railings and Composite Decking. Michael's very talented father (who essentially built his entire house in Alaska by himself, with only a bit of summer help from a 12-year-old Michael), flew in for a few weeks to build our two railings and install our composite decking. Our back balcony, pre-railings:. With the posts installed (the humble beginnings of a railing system):. Our beautiful front porch decking!
