Musings, serious thoughts, nonsense, and rants. Saturday, June 20, 2009. I watched An Inconvenient Truth. Tonight. Very well done, I highly recommend it. Watching it, though, I was really struck by how unconscionable it is that they've known about this problem for decades, and they've just sat on it, or worse, obstructed the path of people trying to fix it. An entire generation of people have stuck their heads in the sand rather than address the issue. Pathetic. There are tons of sites out there such as ...

Musings, serious thoughts, nonsense, and rants. Saturday, November 19, 2011. Effective use of Twitter for organizations. I just attended a workshop by an organization I'm a member of, where they rolled out Twitter with great hoopla. A few things arose which informed me that this organization still doesn't understand social media, so I thought I'd put down some tips for organizations who want to get into this "new" (yes, that's sarcasm) means of communicating. You can't control the conversation! What soci...

Musings, serious thoughts, nonsense, and rants. Wednesday, December 26, 2012. Fix for Windows 8 Wi-Fi (Off) problem. My HP M6-1184ca laptop recently had a problem where my wifi was disconnected and turned off, and I couldn't figure out how to turn it back on. In the network connection panel, it was showing "Wi-Fi (Off)". I'm not sure how this would have become toggled to off. if I discover a way it may be inadvertently toggled off by mistake, I'll update this article. Posted by Mark Carter, OCT. I have s...

Musings, serious thoughts, nonsense, and rants. Wednesday, January 27, 2010. Thoughts on the iPad. Today Apple announced the iPad. A tablet computer bearing a striking resemblance to the iPod touch. Colloquially known as the iTouch). If you already own an iPhone/iTouch and a laptop, then the iPad isn't going to be nearly as appealing. It's a nice product that inspires technolust to be sure, but the iPhone/iTouch are such great products that spending $500-700 for a larger screen just isn't worth it. Looki...

Musings, serious thoughts, nonsense, and rants. Wednesday, November 22, 2006. Business Energy Efficiency (and lack thereof). An article on The Register. Musings, serious thoughts, nonsense, and rants. Wednesday, November 16, 2011. Upgrading to iOS5, so far not impressed. I'm in the midst of what is apparently the multi-hour upgrade to iOS5 for my iPod touch 3G. Having figured out that I can play with the iPod while iTunes is apparently locked up on "Restoring iPod apps." (it's not locked up, just taking forever and not giving any feedback at all!
